Primary Surface Test failure on Corsair One

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have run the Diagnostics on the Corsair One and I am receiving an error when the video test is being conducted. It shows that the Primary Surface Test is failing. Does this mean that the video card is bad?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Kind regards,

Stuart

Thanks for your suggestions @solrac13

All temps idle tend to sit between 27-35 degrees Celsius

Temp when running Heaven Benchmark max at roughly 55

Passed all available tests on the burn test.

Unigine Heaven Benchmark 4.0

FPS: 114.1

Score: 2873

Min FPS: 24.6

Max FPS: 240.2

System

Platform: Windows NT 6.2 (build 9200) 64bit

CPU model: Intel® Core i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz (4199MHz) x4

GPU model: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 22.21.13.8253 (4095MB) x1

Settings

Render: Direct3D11

Mode: 1920x1080 8xAA fullscreen

Preset: Custom

Quality: Ultra

Tessellation: Extreme

Haven't been able to run the 3d Mark test as yet.

Overall there haven't been many if any performance issues other then the odd drop in frames while running a game like PUBG or Gears Of War 4 but it continually fails the 'Primary Surface Test'....

@Audi0phile

Your GPU temps look great

Even do primary surface test failure error is not very common, been looking on the net and haven't found much about it!!!! It sounds to like Your Video Card is failing

Unforntuatly there isnt any software test for video cards out there that I know, must people run Stress test to try to find the failure

It would be great if @stupipe could give you an update on her issue Did you try to Pim @stupipe ?

Hi there,

Sorry I was away from the forums for a little while. I originally sent my unit back to Corsair and they ran diagnostics and said that there appears to be no faults with the hardware and it may be another program I have installed on my unit that is interfering with PC Doctor. I have not had any failures or abnormalities with the card. Here is a response I received from a Corsair Rep:

I have chatted with our validation team and this is what they have told me:

With the list of programs you have provided us, we have tried to replicate the issue on our end to no avail. Provided we don't have access to every software on the list but we did install what we can get our hands on. It is safe to say that this issue is an isolated one. Please let us know if you have encounter any actual performance issue with the system, otherwise, this is just a bug spawned from compatibility between software. It will not affect your system performance in any way.

Please let me know if you have any question.

My temps hit 55 max and I have never had a video card failure, so I am guessing it may be a software conflict.

Let me know if you receive any outcome. I would love to know if really is an isolated issue or there are other units out there like mine.

And hello glad to know it may no be a hardware failure, keep an eye on your GPU and CpU tepms

Your benchs look ok, as soon I get my machine I will update my benchs to compare, if I ever get it lol

Last update, Amazon confirmed that has arrived to Thailand, but is held on customs and they want me to go to nearest costoms office to fill out a form,

So planning to make a trip on Monday to try to fix that, not easy as I don't speak Thai:[pouts:

Getting the same error, I’m going to try remove the overlay as well and I’ll let you know if it works. Also cannot complete the diagnostic stress tests, they run for a couple seconds and then exit stating cannot run. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the Nvidia overlay causing the error, because I haven’t noticed the video card dying.
