I’m having the same problem with my brand new H100i RGB Platinum. In quiet mode my pump is making rattling noise, which I can clearly hear through radiator and case fans’ noise. The pump works louder than in balanced mode, in which this rattling noise is significantly reduced but not completely. If I put my ear close to the pump, I can still distinguish it from higher rotation speed of the rotor. It’s definitely not a “low-noise pump design” that Corsair claims. In extreme mode this noise is indistinguishable from rotor rotation.

My cooler firmware version is 1.00.32. Looking at other people’s posts here, it looks like there is a newer version but I couldn’t update mine. I get a message that “the firmware failed to load or a newer version is not available”. I uninstalled iCUE software, cleaned registry and reinstalled the same latest version and still get the same message. But I highly doubt this problem has anything to do with the firmware. To my understanding, this noise is created by the rotor and is mechanical in nature. At lower RPM the rotor tends to vibrate more thus creating this rattling noise.

Does anybody else have a better idea of what this could be? I’m on my third H100i Platinum for the last 6 months. The first two had other issues one of them being the same as this one: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=187938 . By the way, I’ve had no issues of any kind with my H110i that I have installed in my second computer for the last two years. I want to love this H100i. It fits like a glove in the top of my Carbide Clear 400C with my Ripjaws memory modules just barely touching radiator fans and it perfectly complements my build. But I can’t stop replacing it because of all the new problems. I see other people here are having all kinds of problems with this cooler too, some of them keep replacing it just like me. “On paper” and in reviews this cooler looks like the best 240mm AIO that Corsair has ever made but in reality it’s plagued with all kinds of issues. Should I keep finding my perfect sample or look elsewhere?
