iron.warrior
Hi folks, I am just ready to order my parts for my new Skylake build and am wondering which power supply you guys would recommend. I will be running the following.. SLI GTX 970 video 4 hard drives 4 ddr4 memory sticks 2 DVD Burners Powering 5 fans on a Antec 1200 case May run a few other things, not sure yet.. I was looking at this one.. Corsair RM 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply But want to make sure I am ordering the right one. I would like one that is Reliable mostly and current that support the 6th gen processors.. It is so confusing looking at the many different power supplies available. I was told anything that is Haswell ready will work, but was hoping to get a current recommendation of a new model specifically tested with the new Skylake stuff. antonyfrn
RM PSU will work fine using a RM850
iron.warrior
Thanks Antonyfrn... However with further research It seems these are (2) of the best power supplies on the market. I am leaning toward the EVGA 850 at this point..
mackerel
I'm using a HX750i on my i7-6700k build. I like that you can monitor the power usage through the Corsair Link app in Windows. Believe the RM series has more basic monitoring but I don't know to what level. The HXi series is also a bit more efficient than RM. For power requirement, as a ball park let's say 150W each for stock GTX970, and 100W for CPU, and 100W for everything else. So that's a ball park 500W peak consumption. A 750W model should be enough headroom unless you're going to aggressively overclock, or want significant upgrades in future, in which case you might look to higher models. Note power supplies tend to be most efficient if used roughly in the middle area of their rating.
red-ray
Believe the RM series has more basic monitoring but I don't know to what level. The RM just reports the +12V current and the fan speed. The RMi reports exactly the same as the HXi.
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted August 24, 2015 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 24, 2015 Thanks Antonyfrn... However with further research It seems these are (2) of the best power supplies on the market. I am leaning toward the EVGA 850 at this point.. Very bad form to come to a manufacturer's website suggesting other company's products are better. Naturally, I'm going to beg to differ. Example: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=441 9.9 / 10.
Wired
I've removed the links to the other non-corsair PSUs.
