Why corsair is so secretive and unfriendly when it comes into ram

I am building a new Ryzen system, replacing my old i7 870! So my seller coops with a distributor that sells only corsair ram.

I chose the motherboard MSI tomahawk b350 and I read the Memory compatibility of the motherboard. I ended up and between 16gigs or 32 corsair LPX at 3200 CAS 16 and in white color. The motherboard text tells us only 4.31 version of that RAM which translates into Samsung b.

I called directly the distributor and I asked him about the versions of ram he is selling... He couldn’t answer! It took them two days to send me an email, that corsair is very secretive about revealing the versions of the RAM. Only the factory knows before they send it out and the end user victims that may not be able to use them at all, if they are not the right version. Distributor also said, WE CANNOT place an order according to specific revision of the memory, but we will know what version it is when corsair sends it over. I said NO THANK YOU.

So yes, I bought some g.skill and problem solved; we know what we buy with them.

Keep that as a reference of ur mistakes.

I chose corsair so many times, mouse, psu, pc case but for RAM, this company brings the most unfriendly approach than any other ram creator. It looks like RNG/casino style of ram you never know what you buy! I also believe corsair after INTEL must change some attitude.

You're asking for the entire memory market to change.

Which obviously is not going to happen, at least anytime soon.

@Ploutonas: There are some model numbers however, that can only be produced from a single IC type because of their specs. If you are looking specifically for Ver4.31 there are some unofficial sources about those ICs and which kits you typically and/or exclusively find them on. Just do a quick WWW search on them.

Other than that i found the transparency Corsair offered, with the visible version number on the modules through a window in the packaging back in the DDR3 days, very commendable. That allowed me to pick up kits with very specific ICs at my local hardware store, where i would otherwise have to go fully blind with other manufacturers products. Apparently some DDR4 models also also had/have the window in their packaging, so the option might still exist. After i got my Platinum SE, didn't really care about it any more :D

The version number is listed on the back of the packaging or can be seen through the window on the back of the packaging.
