DingoChutney
Hi, I've just run my new mobo (Sabertooth Z77) through the configurator and it looks like the RAM I had picked out - CMD8GX3M2A1600C8 - isn't compatible. Is that correct? The CPU is an i7 3770K. Sorry if this has been asked and I've missed it. Thanks in advance. Regards, Chris
Synthohol
http://www.corsair.com/us/dominator-platinum-with-corsair-link-connector-1-5v-8-gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmd8gx3m2a1600c8.html CMD8GX3M2A1600C8 Compatible with Intel Z77, X79, Z68 and P67 platforms but only one kit, not 2 kits combined as i believe you have installed by your description. same part# does not matter, if your ram came in 2 packages thats not a supported configuration. see below and links. DingoChutney
Ah, thanks for the quick response! I ordered the RAM yesterday but haven't fitted it yet so no harm done. Looking at the product list, it doesn't look like I can use 16GB of Dominator Platinum in any configuration :[pouts: Can you or anyone recommend an alternative of comparable quality? Or was it overkill to order 16GB and actually 2 of the 4GB sticks would be plenty? The rest of the rig is an MSI GTX680 Lightning (2GB), 256GB SSD and 2TB Caviar Black. Thanks again.
