runeo
Hi everyone, i make a thread because i dont find one which can help me at the moment. So here is my issue, everything's working fine with my SSD , except 2 things : - It doesn't go as fast as it supposed to be - I can't upgrade it's firmware When i use the " SSD Firmware update tool" (Corsair_FieldUpdater), my SSD doesn't appear in it, even if i clic 100 times on "rescan for drives" , i just can't find a way to upgrade it and to make it as fast as it supposed to be . What i did : I did put in my BIOS the sata as AHCI, and my w7 reg as AHCI too. Speed of my SSD atm: ~110 mo/s Supposed to be at: 550/510mo/s Kind regards , hope someone gonna help/resolve my issue. Wired
1. Which SATA port do you have the SSD connected to (Intel or JMicron)? 2. Are you right clicking the app and selecting run as admin? 3. How are you testing the speed? Should be testing with ATTO.
runeo
Hi wired, thanks for your answer. 1. Which SATA port do you have the SSD connected to (Intel or JMicron)? Intel i guess (sata/II) 2. Are you right clicking the app and selecting run as admin? Yes i do 3. How are you testing the speed? Should be testing with ATTO. I am testing the speed with : HD Tune Pro , crystaldisk , SSD benchmark
Wired
1. Are you sure? Some SATA II ports are Intel, others are JMicron. Check the manual: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1156/P7P55D_Deluxe/#specifications 3. You can't compare one benchmark with a completely different one. Test with ATTO. runeo
1. I'm actually on the Jmicron one , which one i need to plug in my SATA ? ,i just checked , i do have 3 SATA/III right ? so i might plug in this one 2. ok i'll try it
Toasted
1. Move the SSD to the Intel SATA II port.
AlienwareALX
If the flash tool operates with a command based environment at a low level then it will not see the Jmicron controller as that would require a driver to be loaded. So as others have said try switching it to the Intel one :)
runeo
so i did everything(plug in the SATA/II intel), now my SSD is faster, the intel rapid things see it, the ahci config in my bios see it , but the "ssd firmware update tool" still dont see it . The ATTO test says: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/74659047/ssd.png Regards

Again AHCI will not work with a generic storage driver you must load one on (usually in the chipset driver for your motherboard).

Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted July 30, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted July 30, 2012 What MB are you using and is it S-ATA II or S-ASTA III, what port do you have the SSD connected to on the MB?
runeo
Mb used: 256 Sata used: S-ATA II dont understrand ur last question , on the intel sata II port ?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted July 30, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted July 30, 2012 Look on the MB where the cable from your SSD where is it connected and tell me the port number it is connected to! But for S-ATA II the ATTO results are about normal. You will be limited to S-ATA II speeds because of the controller.
Toasted
Your motherboard does not have any SATA III ports. Therefore the ATTO results are normal. If your referring to SATA 3.0Gb/s that is SATA II. SATA III = 6.0Gb/s

Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 1, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 1, 2012 I would try running the Update on another system and you will not be able to run the firmware update on a drive that is booting the O.S.
