monsterenergy22
I recently upgraded to a CORSAIR RM750i and am now getting some sort of quick screeching noise right after I power the computer on. With the computer powered off, right after I press my case's power button you can hear some sort of audible "screech". It is very brief and comes right after the mechanical noise of the case's power button being pressed. This never happened with my old PSU (Corsair TX750W) and only happens after pressing the power button to turn my computer on. I was able to capture a video so you could hear for your self. https://www.dropbox.com/s/pl5gpd51kb81f58/pc%20clicking%20noise.mp4?dl=0 The computer still powers up and runs just fine but am curious to whats causing this. Any ideas?
monsterenergy22
Did some more research and it appears it might be normal... thoughts? https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/223866-corsair-rm750-click-noise-on-startup/ And apparently someone from Corsair tech support said the following. the clicks can be heard from the fan relay switch and the sound would not affect performance. As the sound of the clicking noise, the sound just "clicks".
Corsair Employee Corsair Mint Posted May 19, 2017 Corsair Employee Share Posted May 19, 2017 Yup, it sounds like a relay clicking and shouldn't pose any issues.
monsterenergy22
Based on more research and input from various forum members, I decided to keep the original PSU since it seems to just be a relay clicking. Thanks for the help everyone!
monsterenergy22
Hate to bring life to an old thread but for some reason just remembered this (continuing to hear the clicking sound as first described). I remember someone saying that the RMi and RMx series do not have relays, is that true?
Corsair Employee Corsair Mint Posted May 30, 2018 Corsair Employee Share Posted May 30, 2018 Right, it doesn't have relays for the inrush circuit, but if it coincides with the fan spinning up and stopping, it's one for the fan.
