Which products are you trying to use with Corsair Link? Have you tried to go back and use 4.7?

Corsair Dustin,

Thanks for restoring the 4.7.0.77 version to the Corsair LINK download page.
I uninstalled version 4.8.0.82 (removing configuration files) and reinstalled the older one, which now seems to be working properly.

I've uploaded 2 screenshots to illustrate functionality and answer your question.
You might also check my "PC Specs".

It's unfortunate that the work invested in version 4.8.0.82 introduced fatal flaws.
Any chance mayberts's and my error messages can help point to a fix for LINK's coding?

John

This happened on 4.7 and 4.8. Never used your software prior to yesterday and won't be using it (because I can't). Opening it shows the main window, it doesn't detect my USB connected H80i v2 though and it crashes shortly after being run.

Do you guys outsource your stuff to the same people that make Razer's software? Both look equally awful.

Those of you using ASUS boards, are you also running any of ASUS's software?

I am using ASUS GPU TWEAK II V1.5.2.8 dated 2017/08/31 with my ASUS STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5 GPU.
This "Utility" IS offered for Windows 10 32bit & 64bit.

I also have ASUS AI Suite II V2.04.01 dated 2014/06/30 installed for my ASUS P9X79 motherboard.
This is "old" and provided for "Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1 32bit & 64bit".
This "Utility" is NOT offered for Windows 10.
Not all features seem to work in my Windows 10 environment.

Corsair LINK Version: 4.7.0.77 seems to be behaving as I would expect.
Sadly, the Windows Errors continue despite the onscreen graphics working now.

Can you try uninstalling AI Suite? ASUS software is notorious for interfering with Corsair Link software and vice versa.

Regrets, this is not my primary desktop and it has taken me till this month's Windows Updates to get it booted back up to try your suggestion.

I uninstalled Corsair LINK 4.7.0.77, rebooted, ran Windows 10 Update (to Version 1703, OS Build 15063.608), rebooted (as called for by Win Update), installed Corsair LINK 4.8.2.1, rebooted, and then the S$$$ hit the fan!

I brought up the Corsair LINK UI to review how well it reflected the monitored items. Very shortly, my system shut down the video with no signal getting to the monitor. I had to force a reboot by holding down the power button.

The Windows Errors seem to be almost identical to the previous failure of Corsair LINK 4.7.0.77.

If my errors can help you investigate your conflicts, I can copy/attach more details, but I will NOT engage in any further BETA testing unless you'd care to pay for my Quality assurance (QA) time. I've retired from LMSC as a Software Developer/Systems Analyst/Configuration Manager and am not excited to return to the "rigors" of those disciplines!

I appreciate the data at least. Hopefully we should be able to use it to reproduce the runtime error. But did you specifically uninstall the ASUS motherboard software?

Since I built this desktop computer sometime in mid-2016 from previously purchased hardware (09/18/2013), originally with [Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit - OEM] in time to take advantage of the Microsoft free upgrade to Windows 10, my memory of exactly what steps I followed is lost to history.

Regarding my effort to follow your recommendation to "try uninstalling AI Suite", I specifically uninstalled from [Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features]:
=====
Description ASUS Utilities for Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1 32bit & 64bit.
Version 2.04.01
Description ASUS AI Suite II V2.04.01 Install Program
ASUS AI Suite II V2.04.01 Install Program
ASUS Update(ASUS EZ Update) V2.00.15
ASUS DIGI+ Power Control V1.00.40
ASUS EPU V1.03.22
ASUS FAN Xpert Plus V1.01.15
ASUS My Logo V1.03.06
ASUS Probe II V1.00.51
ASUS System Information V1.02.17
ASUS TurboV EVO V1.01.53
ASUS USB 3.0 Boost V1.05.18
File Size 145.74 MBytes
Update 2014/06/30
Download from AISuite_II_XPVistaWin7-8-8-1_P9X79_V20401.zip
=====
After uninstalling, I've checked for ASUS entries in [Task Manager] and found these:

=====
ASUS Com Service
C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\AXSP\1.02.00\atkexComSvc.exe

ASUS HM Com Service
C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\AAHM\1.00.20\aaHMSvc.exe

ASUS System Control Service
C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\AsSysCtrlService\1.00.22\AsSysCtrlService.exe

AsusFanControlService
"C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\AsusFanControlService\1.01.22\AsusFanControlService.exe"
=====
Since these did not get removed with the uninstall of ASUS AI Suite II V2.04.01, I am now beyond my technical experience/skill with the inner workings of the Windows Operating System!

I hope you can appreciate how many of your customers are at a similar loss for knowing how to unravel your software/drivers from our original MotherBoard drivers from many different manufacturers' instructions.

You can be upset at Corsair LINK, but Corsair didn't leave a bunch of services running in Windows after you uninstalled our software.

I assure you Dustin,
my frustration is not uniquely nor specifically for Corsair.

I've been very pleased with the products I've purchased from Corsair over many years (RAM for all my builds/upgrades, 2 Hydro coolers (H100i, H80i V2), 2 HX power supplies, 2 speaker systems (Simple Audio Go, Gaming Audio Series SP2500), Obsidian Series 750D case, 2x Corsair ML120 Pro Fans.
Of course, my few purchases will never be adequate to sustain the future of Corsair!

I know my own experience with software development was in a much more constrained environment (defined walled garden, more like Apple imposes), but I took some pride in writing into my code methods for leaving "breadcrumbs" to help track down whenever errors/problems occurred. I understand the mathematical combinations/permutations of the wide array and many years of hardware/software/OSs/drivers you folks in the Windows/PC world face these days. That was what prompted my wish to NOT "return to the 'rigors' of those disciplines!", even though my experience was "walled garden" like.

I would be ready to dig out any error logs your software might record, if that could help you help me correct my conflicts. I'm sure ASUS would be unlikely to "give a flying ????" to help me rip out their leftover drivers/DLLs, especially given how old this motherboard is now. I've "imagined" the remaining ASUS files might interact with the UEFI fan settings and motherboard firmware, but your comment about ASUS "junk" left behind is well put.

The concept and UI of the LINK software is very appealing to me. I'd be delighted to count on it to manage my fans/cooler setup.

I am obviously "out of my depth" and apologize if my frustration was received personally.

John

It's alright. We're actually pretty frustrated over here trying to piece this together exactly, because the issues are intermittent.

We have another outstanding issue where users are periodically having "driver unsigned" issues with 4.8, and I'm of the impression that it's related to these problems. The commonality in almost all of the unstable systems I'm seeing on the forums is they're all running ASUS boards. Now ASUS makes fantastic boards - I've used several personally - but their software has always left me a little cold.

One of the possible vectors we've picked up on is that Kaspersky - which ASUS packs with some of their boards - could be interfering with our USB driver.

I may be out of line here, but if your offices are:
Corsair Components, Inc.
47100 Bayside Parkway
Fremont, CA 94538
I'm in the Menlo Park area and the computer I've been struggling with is not currently my primary desktop, I could possibly bring it over the bridge (84) or around Hwys 101-237-880 as a test case?

I have Norton Security installed on that computer, never Kaspersky.
I sincerely hope the "Russians" are NOT hacking your software (as well as our election process).

John
