Mozambiquehere
Props to whomever made those wiring diagrams. But of course I have a question. I’m going to start my build tomorrow in a 680x. I’m going to list what my plans are and ask if I have the correct hardware for rgb fans/lighting. The build is an I9-9900k and an evga 2080ti black mobo-msi z390 meg ace H150 pro rgb. Swapping in 3 ll120s 3 pack of ll120s 2 single ll120s Comander pro. Do I have what is needed to control the cooler and it’s 3 ll120s? As well as the additonal 5 ll120s? I’m fairly certain I have evereything. Is their a diagram for this setup? I did see one that was close but it was with more fans and splitters. Side note: i’m hoping to report back some decent temps. Not sure if anyone has the same or similar build with this case. Thanks for the help! EDIT: ok by looking at the diagram in the 500d build, seems i need 2 rgb fan hubs and the commander pro. 1 fan hub comes with the case and one comes with the 3 pack I believe. Zotty
Hi Buddy.. yeah you would need 2 RGB Fan LED Hubs. and yes you get 1 with the Case and one with the triple pack. I have not had chance to get my head into the 680x yet so not had chance to gather its info and knock up some diagrams for it..
Mozambiquehere
Thanks for the quick reply! Would I be plugging into the 3 pin corsair led connector on the mobo? I’m pretty new to all this.
Zotty
which Cable is this?..
Mozambiquehere
What I meant to say was, would i be utilizing that paticular port on the MSI Z390 meg ace? It has a port labeled for Corsair and that’s what it’s called on the spec sheet. The Corsair RGB ecosystem is where I’m lacking the most knowledge. I should probably have just searched. Hopefully someone has a recent build in the 680x that I can use as a guide. Edited April 12, 2019 by Mozambiquehere
Zotty
If you plan to use Corsair iCUE then no you won't use the motherboard header. Would all be done via the Commander Pro buddy,
DevBiker
Agree with Zotty here ... you definitely want to use the LNP and iCUE. It's far more powerful and customizable than MSI Mystic Light. The JCORSAIR header is nice ... but you've already got the key components for the Corsair system.
Mozambiquehere
After looking over the mobo manual I see what you guys are saying. It’s only for controlling Corsair products through msi’s software. Thanks for the help!
Zotty
No Worries man.. when the times comes and if you need RGB extensions and/or RGB splitters (2 RGB Fan LED Hubs on one LED Channel etc) Give DevBiker (he replied above). he's the Cable guy ;)..... Mozambiquehere
I have to read more about that as i think my wiring knowledge is no bueno. I’m in the middle of the build and i found out that with the 360mm rad front mounted on the 680x, you can’t fit 2 fans up top as the rad lines are in the way. However, I did find out that push pull will fit with the same size gpu that I have. So without any additonal cables, splitters or controllers.. and using the comand pro and 2 fan controllers, can i run a total of 10 LL 120s? Probably over kill but with the I9-9900k OC, it gets pretty hot. Or i can just return one fan and be done with that part. Edit:so I just realized the ll120s dont really light up on the the exhaust side. I really wanted both the push and pull sides to light up :(. I guess i can just use one of the 3 non rgb fans for the push side. Any suggestions? Def open to some. DevBiker
Without any additional cables, splitters or controllers, you can run up to 12 LL fans from a single Commander Pro via 2 RGB Fan LED Hubs. As for the rest ... that's really a matter of choice. Yes, the LL fans don't light up as much on the exhaust side. Whether that's an issue or not is completely up to you. Mozambiquehere
Ok, now in order to control fan speeds for all fans will I need splitter(s)? Edit: So if I'm doing my homework properly, I would need to plug in 5 splitters to the Co Pro in order to be able to adjust the speed of all 11 fans I'm using? Or does the H150 PRO negate the need for 3 of those splitters? Or I can run another CO PRO and connect them together? Mozambiquehere
What do you guys think about the clearence? I just mock fitted the gpu and with the push pull it’s close but it will fit. I’m going to have 2 fans blowing fresh up at the GPU. Cable management is going to be a PITA but should be forgiving.
tjgodin
I have the same EVGA RTX2080Ti card in my Crystal 280X with the H100i RGB Platinum 240mm AIO mounted on the front in a push/pull configuration. As you said, its tight, but it will fit, however, check that you can get your upper fans clear of the hoses. With my LL120 fans up top, I had to install the rad in the other direction with the hoses on the lower case side. It still works, cools with no issue and is quiet. I also figure the fans pulling air in a blowing across the RTX card from the side is a good thing, not a bad one. Good luck on your new build! Mozambiquehere
So I ran into the exact issue you described and discussed it with another forum member. The 2 fans would not fit up top with the rad up front. So the options were to flip it as you did, use 1 fan or I found a video of a guy mounting them on top of the bracket between the glass and the top of the case. They fit no problem but I can't put the dust filter back on, I could put it under the fans but then the fan lighting won't look as good. We figured since it's exhaust it should be fine without a filter. I agree about the air flow, I just wasn't sure if the heated air that passed through the rad would heat the GPU but I don't believe the temp is that much higher then ambient. Considering I will probably be running a stand alone AC unit in the room that the PC is in I should be fine. If you look at the other 680x post you will see some pics and the discussion. Do you have a pic of your build? I would have to remove the fans and reinstall them to flip the rad. I haven't even mounted the pump yet so it's not that big of a deal to do what you did. Thanks! tjgodin
I have my photos over in this post link below. The last photo shows the front mounted rad in push/pull. While there is about 1.5cm between the upper fan and the fan mounted on the top of the rad, the actual top of the rad is only a few millimeters apart from the end of the fan above it. Nothing is touching, so just a perfect fit without having to mount the upper fans above the case, like you noted some people did. Regarding the heat from the rad to the GPU, as you said it ends up being the ambient air being pulled in, so likely cooler. http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=186882 Tony PS - Last tip, mount the ML fans as the pull fans and use the LL fans as the push and visible from the front of the case. The LL fans have more RGB lights to configure in iCUE and then they can also match the upper fans when viewed from outside of the case, if you follow me. Mozambiquehere
So I got it all together and fired it up to test the components as I have been taking my sweet *** time. I didnt want to run into any doas before the return period is up. I have to unplug it all on the cable side to cable manage. https://imgur.com/a/T1brp6f
tjgodin
Looks like you pulled it off, nice job. Glad it all worked out. Tony
Mozambiquehere
Yeah I did! I had 2 small issues. Bios only showed 1 stick of ram so of course I Google it and see the worst of the worst. So I said let me pull it out and pop it back in. Sure enough the bottom latch was open. I must have hit it with the cooler lines. 2nd issue was the H150 pro not showing in Icue. I had the USB plugged into the 2nd commander pro in daisy chain. I pulled it and plugged it into the first one in the chain and it picked it up right away. This thing is godly fast. It's a little loud when under load but that's with it being naked ( no panels) I did the best I could with cable management. If this was not a dual chamber I don't know how I would have pulled it off. With so many fans and controllers it was rough. Took about 3-4 hours to cable manage and I'm not done. I have 2 HD's and 1 ssd to put in. I'm waiting for the hard drives.
