1*4go Vengeance in addition to 2*2go "other module": PC do not boot

Hi,

I have a big CPU cooler which makes one of my 4 memory slots, DDR_2, unusable. This slot is just too close to the CPU and the cooler covers it.

When I bought my PC last year, I only took 2*2GB PC16000 RAM. They are dual-channelled on DDR_1 and DDR_3.

Now I wanted to go up to 8 GB with the last remaining slot, DDR_2.

First, I was surprised to see that there was no PC16000 4GB module. I still bought a Vengeance PC12800 4GB, thinking it would just slow down the 2 other modules.

Well, it does not boot at all. Why? Because you cannot put a memory module on DDR_4 while keeping DDR_2 empty? Because of the difference of speed with the 2 other modules?

Do I have another option than selling my 2*2go and buying 2*4go?

Thanks for your help!

I would talk to the reseller and see if they will let you send these back and get CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 instead I think that will solve all your problems or if you do want 16 Gig then try CML16GX3M4A1600C9B, they are both lower profile and should fit under your cooler.

Thank you. I sent the module back to the seller and had my money back.

I will measure if a low profile ram could fit under the cooler, but there is really very little room (cooler is a Noctua NH12).
