Upilupi
I just installed a i5-8600k (previously used an i5-7400), and the MSI afterburner software says that my idling temperatures are around 30-35C. But here is the weird part, my iCue software says that my Corsair h115i is 22C. Is this normal? This never occured with my previous CPU.
c-attack
Those are different things. Presumably the value you are quoting from Riva Tuner is CPU package temp or one of the cores. Your H115i Temp is the coolant temperature inside the cooler. That is a measure of the effectiveness of your cooling or more accurately how much heat is in the system. The relationship between CPU temp and coolant temp is additive. For every +1C of coolant temp, you will also go +1C CPU temp. Same in reverse. The fans on the cooler will run in accordance with coolant temperature since their job is to move heat out the coolant system, not cool the CPU directly. Your CPU temp will always be higher than the coolant temp, unless you manage to get your Vcore down to 0.00v, then they will be the same. Coolant temperature is the effective minimum CPU temperature.
