MrDanger
Could you tell me the proper OC settings for this ram and my MB?
DerekT
That memory is not a good fit for that CPU. Getting more than 400 FSB is good with the QX9650 (C0/C1) and this ratio will give you 400FSB (1600Mhz QDR) and 800MHz (1600 DDR) on the memory. It will not be easy to can make 450FSB on the CPU to attain the 1800Mhz of the memory. I've never been able to take one of those chips past 420FSB and even then it was a bit iffy. MrDanger
I got it because it was the ram that corsair suggested for my MB... yikes. Can you suggest the optimal AI Tweaker settings to get the most out of the Ram and CPU combo?
Wired
It's listed under your board, but it is also listed under extreme, as in extreme OC.
DerekT
This is what I would shoot for: Download Memtest86+ V2.11 from--->Here Download CPU-z from-->HereEnter your BIOS, load setup defaults, save setup defaults and set to these values. AI Tweaker Ai Overclock Tuner: Manual CPU Ratio Setting: 9 FSB Strap to North Bridge: 333 FSB Frequency: 400 PCIE Frequency: 100 DRAM Frequency: DDR3-1600Mhz DRAM Command Rate: 2N Dram Skew Control All kept on Auto DRAM Timing Control: Manual CAS# Latency: 9 --> 8 (Drop and test) RAS# to CAS# Latency: 9 -> 8 (Drop and test) RAS# to PRE Time: 9 --> 8 (Drop and test) RAS# ACT Time: 24 --> 20 (Drop and test) RAS# to RAS# Delay: Auto REF Cycle Time: Auto WRITE Recovery Time: Auto READ to PRE Time: Auto DRAM Static Read Control: Enabled DRAM Dynamic Write Control: Disabled Ai Clock Twister: Auto Ai Transaction Booster: Auto Pull-in Of channel A Phase 1: Disabled Pull-in Of channel A Phase 2: Disabled Pull-in Of channel B Phase 1: Disabled Pull-in Of channel B Phase 2: Disabled Voltage Settings CPU Voltage: 1.35 --> 1.25 (Drop and test) CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2): Auto CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3): Auto CPU PLL Voltage: 1.5v FSB Termination Voltage: Auto DRAM Voltage: 1.8v NB Voltage: 1.25v NB GTL Voltage Reference: Auto SB Voltage: Auto Clock Over-Charging Voltage: Auto Load-Line Calibration: Auto CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled Advanced > CPU Configuration CPU Ratio Setting: 9.0 C1E Support: Enabled CPU TM Function: Enabled Vanderpool Technology: Enabled Execute Disable Bit: Disabled Max CPUID Value Limit: Disabled Boot to the memtest CD and test for two full passes. Then, if stable, enter Windows and post your CPU-z CPU/Memory and SPD tabs in screenshots. I got it because it was the ram that corsair suggested for my MB... yikes. MrDanger
So if I wanted to try to pump up the FSB to 450, which other settings should I tweak besides the FSB Frequency?
MrDanger
If Ramguy or Derek is out there... I wanted to try to bump up the FSB to 450 so I can use the ram as 1800, can you advise what AI Tweaker settings I need to adjust? Thank you. Yellowbeard
Please do not double post. Try going to 450 at the settings Derek gave above. Voltage Settings CPU Voltage: 1.35 --> 1.25 (Drop and test) Trying working up from 1.25v if not stable. CPU GTL Voltage Reference (0/2): Auto CPU GTL Voltage Reference (1/3): Auto CPU PLL Voltage: 1.5v FSB Termination Voltage: Auto DRAM Voltage: 1.8v NB Voltage: 1.25v . Try increasing this in small steps if not stable. NB GTL Voltage Reference: Auto SB Voltage: Auto Clock Over-Charging Voltage: Auto
MrDanger
I've run the CPU Voltage at 1.35 successfully. I was wondering what settings to tweak to get the full 1800 for this corsair memory. I am stable (made 2 full passes - no errors) and windows boots at: CAS# Latency: 9 RAS# to CAS# Latency: 9 RAS# to PRE Time: 9 RAS# ACT Time: 24 CPU Voltage: 1.35 CPU PLL Voltage: 1.5v DRAM Voltage: 1.8v NB Voltage: 1.25v also, sorry to 2x post, but corsair lists RamGuy as their tech support, and I need tech support. LOL.... I work here too, you are in good hands. If you are not stable at the settings above, you likely need more voltage to the memory controller. If 1.25v is not stable, work up in small increments from there.
MrDanger
I will post CPUz and Slot info if I have any success. Thanks again.
DerekT
C0/C1 revision 45nm Core 2 Quad Products do not make the 450FSB grade easily. Only the very best of the best can do so. The next revision (E0) did make 450FSB.
