kylemcdonald
Hi, I'm designing a machine with two GPUs and space for more. Full details are here: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/kylemcdonald/saved/HQnnnQ PC Part Picker says that the Carbide 400Q and the Asus X99-E WS/USB 3.1 are incompatible, but I can't find any reason that this would be the case. They also say that the motherboard is incompatible with the Air 540 but I can find multiple completed builds using this configuration, making me suspicious. Specifications for the motherboard are here: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/X99E_WSUSB_31/specifications/ And specifications for the case are here: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/carbide-series-quiet-400q-compact-mid-tower-case The case reports its motherboard support as "Mini-ITX, MicroATX, ATX, E-ATX (12" x 10.6")". The motherboard reports its dimensions as "CEB Form Factor 12 inch x 10.5 inch ( 30.5 cm x 26.7 cm )". I'd appreciate it if anyone can confirm that this case is compatible with this motherboard, and if not, why. Thanks so much!
Corsair Blake
It will fit. We have gotten several X99 10.5" boards into this case before.
ahammad
Will Carbide Air 540 fit the same motherboard (Asus x99-e WS /Usb 3.1) as pcpartpicker shows it to be incompatible? Also, will cable management be Ok and easy, or will the be in the other side, blocking air? Thanks a lot for support.
Corsair Employee Greybeard Posted January 3, 2018 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 3, 2018 That board is spec'd at 12x10.5, it should be compatible. Air 540 and Air 740 are the easiest cases that offer to cable manage due to the dual chamber design. It won't block any airflow inside the case because all the cable management is on the PSU chamber side. https://i.nextmedia.com.au/Utils/ImageResizer.ashx?n=http%3A%2F%2Fi.nextmedia.com.au%2FGalleries%2F20130605102221_IMG_0134.JPG&h=450&w=800&c=0&s=

Half of one set of the grommets will be blocked, but still passable and there is another set. http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160438
