matteuk
when i go to update my drive to 1.3 i get 2 different firmware versions on the list i know you have to match the numbers to the file name butt why does it point me to the micron version and not the Intel when iv got the drive connected to my Intel sata 3 port and not the micron sata 3 port souldnt i be chooseing the intel file thanks
Wired
Micron / Intel has nothing to do with the port, as the firmware upgrade tool is only looking at the SSD itself. It's probably the IC used or something.
matteuk
Isn't the intel version faster
scorpionri
Intel and Micron NAND come from the same "factories". AFAIK both have similar specifications in regards of speed, but the Intel 25nm NAND is specced at 5k P/E and the Micron 25nm is rated at 3k P/E ( or at least that's how it was a while ago, so currently I might be wrong ). That doesn't necessary mean that a drive with Intel NAND will outlast one with Micron NAND. As you can see here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?271063-SSD-Write-Endurance-25nm-Vs-34nm, NAND is actually more reliable than you'd think from the manufacturer specification. Wired
The drive is rated up to certain speeds. They will all hit those speeds, and the "capability" of the IC used is irrelevant.
