Corsair link and NZXT CAM sw incompability

Hello everybody,

Beause commander mini is not available in our country bought today nzxt grid+. After instaling cam sw, everything went ok, but after restart, corsair link stopped showing any info and crashed in ~10 seconds after launch. In driver details there were mentioned SiLib.sys, SiUsbXp.sys and usbfilter.sys but I did not check on them, and just mooved them to the desktop. Turned on Corsair Link, and even with uninstalled driver from device manager - Link started and show all the info. But after reinstall mice and keyboard stopped working, even connecting ssd to another pc and mooving files back - did not help.

Did a little dig and internet says Corsair Link 2.7.5361 do not cause any issues with CAM 2.1.4. Could anybody confirm this and maby could share both theese softwares ? Thx in advance :)

You should add your PC specs to your profile, specify what Corsair Link hardware you have and which versions of CL4 and CAM you are using as without this information it's almost impossible to help you.

I feel you should also have a read of http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159462

In general I feel running CL4 and CAM at the same time is almost asking for issues.

Corsair Link 2.7.5361 and CAM 2.1.4 are very old so any posts about them should be ignored.

Thanks a lot red-ray for helping.

My pc HW is P5Q3 Deluxe+x5470@4.5Ghz+8 GB RAM+Spahire Nitro 380X + some ssd and few hdd's, all in Corsair Vengeance C70 case, Powered by RM850i, and CPU watercooled with H110i GTX. All worked cool before today.

In my opinion problem is because H110i GTX and Grid in device manager are both seen as Corsair Hydro Series 7289. No matter which is connected. I understand they all were manufactured by asetek, but how this should be the problem ? For example you can connect two identical usb flash drives in usb and they will be recognized separately and wont conflict one with other

Corsair version 4.2.4.25 (updated not long ago).

Cam version 3.15 installed just now.

Win 10 x64

Could you share CAM 3.0 please, or send link via pm ? :)

Just discovered that GRID+ is based on MCP2200 for communication via usb, and the feedback is:

I was tried

- MCP2200 microchip

- CP2102 SILABS

- FTDI

And the worst is MCP2200 : the communication is not stable and many other probleme ,

and the best FTDI

Red-Ray maby u have any way to read MCP2200 thru usb without desoldering ?

I suspect that it needs to be read via the GUID_DEVINTERFACE_COMPORT interface. I would know more if you posted some SIV screen shots, [uSB Bus] + [Link Devices] + Menu->Hardware->H/W Detail->COM Ports + [serial] should be enough.

Holy ***** this is it

Looks like found the issue.

Looks like both Corsair and NZXT devices are using same usb controller which uses the same driver SiLib and so what I do not understand is why is it so hard to rename them to smth like SiLib_CL.sys and SiLib_CAM.sys and update the firmwares in devices so that each software will recognize their own device by their own driver ... Even only one company can do this, than others usb driver wont be touched.

The fix for this is to use Corsairs drivers I think, because I have reinstalled corsair link, and do not autostart CAM software, start it manually or delay autostart and etc. If anybody needs them pm or email me thru forum if I'm not here.

red-ray i will post some pics of siv later.

No, both Corsair and NZXT Asetek coolers should use the same driver :nodding:.

As I specified before CAM should be checking the USB VID + PID and only be controlling NZXT devices. Basically the CAM developers screwed up.

CAM should be matching on the USB VID + PID so it only controls NZXT devices, but they look to have messed up again.

BTW please closedown/exit CAM before generating the SIV screen shots as CAM fails to use locks to interlock access :(:.

When is later?

If you use SIV 5.13 Beta-07 or later, check AIO-GRID-A-Enable on [Link Devices] and then restart with a bit of luck SIV will report the GRID+ V2 on [Link Status].

Had half an hour free today, so found siv 5,2 and here are the screens. What is the most interesting is that even when now corsair link is turned off and then crashing, SIV still works and can change corsair hardware configuration, hope we can do the same to grid.

The last one is for Grid. I think maby filter should be set to vendor ID. If you need any other screens just tell me. Thx in advance.

Thank you for the screen shots. After checking these I suspect the SIV 5.13 beta will report the GRID+. Do Menu->File->Download->SIV Beta and post the [Link Devices] + [Link Status] + [Link Fans] panels.

Still Micro Chip Technology MCP2200 USB Serial Port Emulator.

If it would be possible to make fan control for GRID+ v2 via SIV by contacting directly one to each other, than I'm waiting for your PM Ray.

OK, you have got the Beta, but you need start doing as I specify otherwise we can't make any progress :brick:.

For the third time post the [Link Devices] + [Link Status] + [Link Fans] panels :asskick:

Woohoo, all is detected ::pirate:: Did not have time to do the setup but what is the most important it WORKS !!!

Thank you RAY !!!

Thank you for running the test and posting the screen shots. Did you realise I wrote all the code, but could not fully test it as I don't have a GRID+ V2 (yet), so yours is the first it has been tried on

The top device with MI_02 in the ID should not be on [Link Devices] so I will change Beta-08 to make it go away.

What we need to do next is check that SIV can change the fan speeds. What fan speeds get reported if you do as follows:

  1. Set 90% then press [Apply]
  2. Set 40% then press [Apply]
  3. Set 80% then press [Apply]
  4. Set 39% then press [Apply]
  5. Set 30% then press [Apply]
  6. Set 25% then press [Apply]
  7. Set 20% then press [Apply]
  8. Set 15% then press [Apply]
  9. Set 10% then press [Apply]
  10. Set 5% then press [Apply]
  11. Set 70% then press [Apply]
  12. Set 0% then press [Apply]

As yet I don't have the GRID+ V2 datasheet, so we need to deduce which % PWM values can be used.

There is a little problem... I was mislead by the noise of corsair fans.

Only when benching at custom mode I can get 1k rpm. Othewise it is stuck on ~780. Sometimes on custom the values go up to 3k or 10 k...

Maby if you would connect to my pc and take a look it would be simplier ?

Refresh time could be faster btw :)

Yet again you have failed to do as I asked. There is no way I can figure out what is happening from the information you have provided.

  1. I suspected there would be as I don't have a GRID+ so can't fully test SIV.
  2. As you failed to do as I asked in http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=868953 then I have no idea what the issue could be.
  3. Given you do not do as I ask then either I do this or wait 'till my GRID+ arrives.
  4. Which refresh time could be faster?

1. First I was changing PWM where the SAVED and RPM options are. This should be changing the option for all fans because individual fan adjustment then do not work.

2. I've tried all theese options you asked, both in all fan and fan rpm still stays at ~780 as in the second screen.

3. Tell me how and i will give you access to my PC I use chrome remote and teamviewer.

4. There is countdown in the picture is Custom (28) so fan rpm values change everu 30 seconds.

I suspect you will have to wait 'till my GRID+ V2 arrives early next week.

  1. Given that manually changing the % PWM did not work then even trying to use custom curves is a pointless exercise.
  2. You should have replied with a list of 12 items. Given this seems not to work I will need to see the protocol trace in real time to figure out what is happening.
  3. I sometimes use TeamViewer, but suspect I need to have a GRID+ here to figure things out. If you wish me to try then e-mail me.
  4. This is the hold-off time and this is how it works. Again read the user guide.

I suspect SIV 5.13 Beta-11 and later will do rather better. I have noted that when a fan initially changes from 0% PWM to >= to the 20% PWM low limit it runs faster than I would expect and then slows down so I guess the firmware does this intentionally to get the fan started.

I see the odd retry on this system, do you also see retries? I am still awaiting the datasheet from NZXT, so once it arrives I will look some more into why the retries are happening.

[Link Status] (similar to as below) + [Link Power] screen shots would be good, ideally generate them when SIV has been running for >= two hours.

Wow cool, it works now, all in one software, really GREAT JOB RED RAY !!!

And also what is most important it did not take you million years to figure out how to do this ;): After updating and restarting siv fans started to spin at around 95~100% of their pvm, and after putting them to 50% they slowed down and I can see rpm too. Can you share that nzxt's datasheet, I wanna see how many fans 1 channel can hold :) And also start replying to PM's, be more friendly  Here are the print screens, thanks again for your great job ;)

Thank you for the screen shots, but you generated them after 4 minutes rather than after 2 hours, [Link Power] is missing and [Link Status] should have had the Tool Tip.

I don't as yet have the NDA GRID+ datasheet and could not share it anyway as it's NDA ;):. Ask NZXT for the datasheet .

I have no intention of enabling PMs as they are not as friendly as e-mail :p:. If you wish to contract me use e-mail .

  • 3 weeks later...
Just to add to this I have no problems running both CAM (latest version) & CL 4.2.4.25. Im running my H110i gt on a single usb header on my mobo and then im running a HUE +, GRID V2 & HX850i link cable on my second usb header (connected with a nzxt usb expansion module). Never had no problems with it. It may be other monitoring software your running if you have that.
