Glad I noticed this today - I was about to cut into my 750D a-la Paul's Hardware and add a makeshift USB-C. This is a much cleaner option. Props, Corsair. Now if you could just release a tempered glass side panel for the 750D... <3

lol he did a pretty good job with that hack. the tempered glass side panel would be awesome

Quick question regarding the 570x front panel kit - In addition to the USB 3.1 connector, does it also have USB 2.0 and/or 3.0 connector like the Obsidian 750D version? Or just the USB 3.1 connector.

If possible, it would be great to a picture like this for the 570x version.

Thanks!

I unfortunately don't have a pic like the one I have for the 750D kit.

I do have a 570X kit at my desk though.

As far as USB connections, the kit features the USB 3.1 Type-C connector and a USB 3.0 connector. There is no USB 2.0 connector since there are no USB 2.0 ports.

Will this USB 3.1 header that fits the Obsidian 750d also fit an older Obsidian 900?

My Obsidian 900 is about five years old (evidently an older generation from the current one). I don't even remember if it was referred to as a 900D or just a 900.

You may be thinking of the 800D. There's only one 900D, and it came out around Spring 2013.

OK, I snapped to it when I saw the "800D" in your response.

So, will the current kit for the 750D fit my older 800D?

Tryin to remember my best, I think I've had it for 5 or 6 years (and I know I bought it directly from the Corsair site).

At the time, I recall that the 800D was the "top of the line", and the 900D had not yet been introduced.

SUCH a bad implementation on the Obsidian 750D as Corsair did was remove a USB slot (that just makes it a waste of a USB port as the connector can do muc more than that) another thing to note WHY did you just keep the cutouts you just chopped off 1 USB cable and disconnected it from the front panel then just put a large plastic piece in which the USB C port sits and it looks ugly AF

Please tell me you're going to do a similar replacement part for the 900D. I really like the case and I don't want to throw it out in a couple months time when I upgrade the internals just for the lack of USB 3.1 on the front.

edit: Side note, the find a retailer links on the Corsair site all seem to come up blank.

eg: https://www.corsair.com/ww/en/Categories/Products/Accessories-Parts/PC-Components/Cases/900D-Front-Panel-I-O/p/CC-8930107 shows the popup but doesn't list any retailers.

If it's not available, maybe the site should say "Not available" or something similar.

These apparently came back into stock at Corsair... I attempted to order and was greeted with a $10 charge on a $20 part. That is absolutely appalling and a complete rip-off. Even worse I contacted their customer service to see if they could help in any way (I even offered to email them a UPS label and pay for it myself as I would pay a fraction of that cost) - customer service would not help in any way. Poor customer service Corsair, I am extremely disappointed with you!!

So still no love for other cases?

Hey Corsair, if you're reading this maybe it'd be a good idea to make your front I/O panels uniform based on two or three standard sizes. That way you could sell replacement parts to customers for a whole bunch of different cases instead of just one or two that happen to be popular.

It's super frustrating having bought a high end case and being left with no support for USB3.1 and future changes. Makes me feel like I might as well buy a cheap case and throw it away every two or three years when I buy a new setup.

edit: USB 3.1 not USB 3

Is there any chance there will be a second version for the 570X that drops the lighting controls on the Front I/O for more USB? Something like:

2 x USB 3.1

1 x USB-C 3.1 gen 2

1 x USB 2.0

Many 570X owners are not using the Front I/O lightning controls because we are using Lighting Node Pro or Commander Pro making that wasted space. One nitpick point that almost prevented me from buying my 570X was the fact that it's a premium case with only 2 front USB, when competitors such as the Fractal Design R6, NZXT H700, etc have 4 available USB ports.

Just added this panel on my Obsidian airflow edition, but with some changes.

1. Moved USB C to the right

2. Got rid of USB 2.0 and added USB 3.0 from old panel. Why do you need 2.0 if you can add 3.0?

I think this looks better

Is Corsair going to release a USB 3.0/USB C upgrade panel for the 900D? I would thing that a lot of owners of the 900D would be interested in this upgrade? Even with it being a 5 year old case I'm betting its still a heavily used case. I would definitely be willing to pony up a few bucks for a upgrade front i/o for the 900D. Make it have 4 USB 3.1 and 2 USB C 3.1 gen2. Edited by Vanluvanee
