vkon15
Hi guys, I'm working on building a 6 gpu mining rig and recently encountered a hurdle; My ax1200i has 8 x 8 pin pcie ports, one being for EPS. Each of my video card needs 2 x 8 pin pcie, I plan to use a dual 6+2 cable for them. My 6 risers require a 6 pin power connection as well. I don't have sufficient free 8 pin ports to power them via a 6+2 cable. Most places online advise against using SATA to 6 pin adapters which came with the risers. Can I make my own 6 pin to 6 pin cables? Does the ax1200i 6 pin supply sufficient power? As I need some of the available ports to power peripherals in the system, I would like to make 6 pin to dual 6 pin cables to power my risers. I can't find sufficient information regarding how much power the PSU can deliver on the 6 pin port, from my calculations I need at least 150W to be safe. Any feedback will be appreciated! vkon15
Ok, after further research I realized I was way off. Anybody else reading this post, the 6 pin pinout on the back of the PSU is totally different than 6 pin PCI-E standard. Attempting to connect the two can lead to serious damage.
