Very excited. :D: Do any of you have this combination, and have you applied the EFI firmware update 1.7 for your MBPs? Has it been working since the update? I ask because there seems to be many folks having issues post 1.7 update with their drives (not necessary SSDs but HDs as well) randomly freezing. So, to confirm, if we're using the latest Apple OS (10.5.7) with a P256 (clean install, quick format) and install the EFI 1.7 to a new MacBook Pro 15", we should be running fine? I currently have two P256s in my MBP in a RAID 0 setup (took out the optical drive) and while this is working nicely I wouldn't mind getting the improvement. But only if it works! Still running 1.6; P128 being delivered tomorrow. :biggrin: I'm still trying to decide if I should be stable but run at 1.5 Gbps, or run at 3Gbps and risk stability. Decisions, decisions. dave8624 Posted July 23, 2009 Share Posted July 23, 2009 hi everyone. i just bought a new mbp 2.26 13" and popped my P128 into it. It has firmware 1.7 btw. I ran xbench and got results that were not entirely thrilling. The read speed for the Sequential Uncached Read is 176.01 mb/sec in the 256k block test which is pretty good; below the 220 mb/sec rated, but Im not complaining about that at all. What bothers me is that the highest write speed I got was 90.86 mb/sec on the 4k blocks in the Sequential Uncached Write Test. I previously had this drive in an Asus 1005ha netbook with only SATA I and got over 100 mb/sec write speeds, so Im a little confused. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I believe Xbench is very unreliable but more importantly, are you running the xbench on a fresh install or have you loaded up the machine with your previous information. The best results will come from a fresh install after a format with just the O/S. Nonetheless, while the results may not be as good, i think when you look real world tests comparing SDDs, you will see that the difference between a machine that can do say 220 mb/sec seqreads vs 175 seqreads is very small at best. For comparisons, i ran xbench with my machine loaded (about 50% full) and got 178 on seq reads and 56 seq write (256 blocks).
