mrnoodle
I just got a corsair 1gb (2x512) value select kit for my x2 3800+ HP. The Corsair memory is DDR PC3200 2.5-3-3-8 and the memory in there before (come to find out) is 3-3-3-8. My system is now running at 166Mhz (2700 in bios). Using CPU-Z it says that the memory that came with the system has a CAS Latency of 2.5 when running at 166Mhz. So, are all four sticks of ram forced to run at the same Latency? If so, am I better off sticking with 2GB of ram @ 166Mhz or sending the Corsair Ram back and trying to get Kingston ram that is 3-3-3-8 or even try to eventually get another 1GB kit of the Corsair later? I am fairly savvy when it comes to simple troubleshooting and stuff, but these specifics of memory have me a little confused. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Wired
It's never recommended to mix memory from different manufacturers. Best bet is to either get some more HP memory, or to get System Select memory that will work with OEM memory.
