DDR4-3000+ MHz and Mainstream Motherboards

Overclocking DDR4 high speed memory requires robust hardware, especially if you are going for 2800+mhz. Motherboard manufacturers are unofficially claiming that they are capable of running 3000mhz or faster, but in fact they are not. This resulted in many debates and some users even fault memory products for not being able to run the advertised speeds, which is unfair.

My advice to you? Make sure your motherboard officially supports high speed overclocking and save yourself the headache.
