shahsmerdis
Hi there, I have a asus z97 board and a H60 cooler. Manual states to plug it into any fan connector and ensure it is getting full power. currently I have it plugged into CPU-OPT Port on my motherboard . Is that an always on port? with a bit of googling I found it is tied to cpu fan speed, little vague on details on what that means. currently i have q-fan disabled, so both the fan and pump are running at fulled speeds. By enabling q-fan, does that anyway affect the CPU-OPT port voltage? I want to make sure the pump is at full speed, but i would also like to throttle the fan speed if its not needed. Thanks in advance!
StealthGaming
CPU fan or CPU-OPT can be used to connect the pump. Newer higher end boards will run both ports at full speed (speed can't be adjusted).
shahsmerdis
that makes sense! But the fan can? Thanks.
StealthGaming
Fans can connect to either the CPU OPT or SYS FANS ports. If you're using PWM fans, i would recommend connecting them to the SYS FAN port so you can fine tune fan adjustments according to temperature and using the Mainboard to control them. Corsair Employee Corsair Dustin Posted March 26, 2015 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 26, 2015 Personally I'd plug the pump into a CHA_FAN or SYS_FAN port and then disable fan control to that port. Then plug the fan into CPU_FAN and have that control fan speed depending on CPU load.
