blackops
Hello, everyone, I need some advice about memory timings please. I bought a kit of DDR4 3200mhz ram (CMK8GX4M2B3200C16) for a B250 board and need some help with the timings. The maximum speed the board can run this memory is 2400mhz. Loading the XMP profile yields 2400mhz 16-18-18-36 2T and the manual setting yields 2400mhz 17-18-18-40 2T. I think the timings can be tightened a little but what would be the recommended 2400mhz timings for this memory?
Corsair Employee Corsair Art Posted March 22, 2018 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 22, 2018 Which version of the bios do you have installed? If latest, still reflash it and see if the profile does a bit better.
emissary42
Mosts kits rated for DDR4-3200 16-18-18 should easily run DDR4-2400 at timings like 13-15-15 or even lower if you raise the memory voltage from 1.20V to the 1.35V they are specced for. Edit: For reference my old Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M4A2800C16 (Ver5.29) did DDR4-2400 13-13-13-31 1T at 1.22V on Skylake.
blackops
Which version of the bios do you have installed? If latest, still reflash it and see if the profile does a bit better. I have the latest bios, F10b, motherboard B250 HD3P. I don't wish to sound rude but what would flashing with the same bios achieve?
Corsair Employee Corsair StormShadow Posted March 22, 2018 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 22, 2018 The recommended timing is the one you see under X.M.P profile, honestly, the timing can always be adjusted/tightened but it really doesn't make a noticeable difference except on paper. Stick with X.M.P for stability.
