The QVL just indicates RAM that the motherboard vendor has tested. They do not test all of the RAM that's available on the market when they first ship the board and very few, if any, update it once it's shipped. The reality is that most RAM will work with most motherboards. Now, whether you not you can squeeze every ounce of performance out of it over the spec is another question.
