H150i Modding - 6x ML120 possible?

Hey All! First Post ;)

So heres my project:

I want to mount 3 additional ML120 on my H150i - doing a push/pull same time.

To shorten things up->

The main question is, does the sata connection from the h150i provide enough power to drive another 3x 0,260A ?

I just want to hook a PWM-Y cable on every of the three fan connectors of the H150i. So the number is doubled. 2 fans each lines.

Would this be to much for it?! What YOU think?

Kind Regards

poly

P.S. from technical side Sata provides 3x 12V pins with 1,5A max each. I have no clue how much the pump will eat up nor if the corsair sata connector grabs all of the 3 pins(which I just assume)

Hey Devil

Thanks for the great reply.

It really helped me out.

So now i got the numbers. Lets calculate:

0,450 A for the pump

1,314 A=> 0,219 A for one fan x 6

=1,764 A

Conclusion, it would work.

To be honest. I dont really understand what limits us here at 2A

Its powered via Sata which provides 3x12V Pins with 1,5A Each means 4,5A in total.

But thats probably corsair secret...

Any ideas what exactly technically limits this?!

Thanks so much. I will proceed with my push/pull now since im safe (mathematically)

The cable powering the pump is rated for 2A.

Ah, you mean the 2 single cable lines which are coming from the pump and are going to the Sata connector.

Awww - so just using a thicker cable would max that out... I wish they planned more headroom in there. For the will of other users using high RPM and/or LED fans.

Which is luckily not the case in my mod.

Thanks for explaining. You re a great help!
