Thinkpad T61p does not detect F120 SSD in BIOS

Hi, any help appreciated.

My Force F120 arrived today. Loaded the lasted BIOS to my thinkad T61p and verified it installed. Removed the primary hard disk and replaced with F120. Powered up. Bios did not detect a drive. Verified ACHI mode. No detect. Switched to compat mode. No detect. Switched back to ACHI and turned off quick boot. No detect. Tried reset to defaults in BIOS. Nothing. Tried a linux boot usb and used the disk utility, no disk found.

Installed the F120 in a caddy in a different model thinkpad (w500) and found that the drive was detected. Tried the drive again in the T61p as the main/boot device, nothing.

There are several forum appends saying that the F120 does work with the T61p as a boot device.

What should I do next ?

Hi Kralleman, thanks for posting. re "but I can boot roughly 1 out of 5 times. " I hit a problem with that too with the caddy. By setting the boot settings in the thinkpad bios to 'diagnostic' you can get a memory test each boot. This is boring and takes a while, by the time it finishes the SSD is ready and the boot should work.

I'm now playing with booting from the SSD in the caddy (installed where the DVD used to be). That works. The drive is still not detected when installed in the normal hard disk location.
