Mic problems (still, back from RMA)

I had RMAed my HS1 on recommendation from Corsair's support and just got one back. Maybe I should've looked in here first.

 

I'm having the same kinds of mic problems other people here seem to be having with their mics:

- low volume (even when maxed)

- humming/buzzing when maxed

- background sounds/noises heard (better than my voice)

 

It seems to be a somewhat common theme of complaints:

Anyone here have any bright ideas?

 

If someone from Corsair wants to refer back to the RMA, it's case #1792662. I'm not RMAing it again; shipping it more than once isn't cost effective. I've always been impressed by their memory products/support, not very happy with this one.

 

It may be worthwhile to note that I've tried the new headset on two different computers and have the same problems (both run Win7 x64).

 

I've also just tried the new one on a Linux system, the mic volumes are much better but the hum's still there. The sad thing is, I don't really care if I have audio on that machine -- so maybe it's a driver issue on Win7 x64?
