Default Is there a way to stop a macro when the button is released

Let's say I want to be able to hold a button and have the button send "1" and "2" for as long as I hold the button. When I release the button, it should stop.
If I record a macro, the only way I can get the mouse to continuously have "1" and "2" get sent is to delete the events "Release Key 1" and "Release Key 2", but this makes it impossible to stop the macro from running. What I can I do to stop the macro when I release the button ?
