TheDeftone
So I just got my ram upgrade, Vengeance LED (red) and wanted them to have a static LED, but I can only adjust one LED. Is there any fix to this?
red-ray
I am wondering if this is a CL4 bug or a hardware issue with one DIMM. The LEDs are controlled via the SMBus and could comment further if you ran my SIV utility and attached screen shots of the initial screen + Menu->System->SMB Bus panels. The Menu->Hardware->SPD Summary + Menu->Hardware->SPD Thermal panels may also be helpful. It's best to use .PNG for screen shots and see http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=853900 for how to attach them.
TheDeftone
Alright. Took me some time to know how to use your software. Figured it out in the end. All the screenshots.
red-ray
I suspect that to change the LED colour the [ 0_59 ] + [ 0_5B ] devices need to written to. To confirm this change the colour and then press [sMB Bus] to reread the values and see it anything has changed. There are actually 256 registers and to see all 256 press the [ 0_59/B ] button. Assuming my suspicions are correct then the hardware is fine and the issue is probably down to yet another CL4 bug that Corsair may fix in time. I could get SIV to change the DIMM LED colour if I knew which register to change. I wonder how hard it would be to reverse engineer the register usage... Not that hard in the end, see http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=888742  The DIMM SPD reports that Module Thermal Sensors (MTS) are available (hover the mouse over the pink blob to see the tool tip), but they don't seem to be present at [ 0_19 ] + [ 0_1B ] as they should be. Are the DIMMs meant to report their temperature and/or does CL4 report their temperature. Below you can see SIV also failed to find them. I suspect the SPD data is incorrect to report MTS as being available. BTW the DIMMs are only running at 2.13MHz and should run at 2.66GHz if you enable XMP in the BIOS. SIV should not report the -55°C temperature, does CL4 also report this? If you e-mail me the SIV save files I will fix SIV, see http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=788225 for what I need. BTW in your PC specs you have Motherboard MSI Z170-Gaming K3 but it's Gigabyte not MSI and you also have W10 Professional not Home :o:
TheDeftone
Thanks for the info. So what I can gather is that it most likely is a problem with the software. That's nice to know atleast.
TheDeftone
Also, CL4 does not show -55°C. And thanks for the hint on the XMP enabling. Didn't know about that.
red-ray
CL4 does not show -55°C. Thank you, what does CL4 show on the [Home] tab, maybe it shows it as 55°C. If you don't wish to send me the SIV save files so I can fix this then please post Menu->Hardware->Sensor Debug so I can at lest try.
