anand0413
Hello AX 1200i has 8-pin (8 slots) so is it possible to connect 8 PCI-E cables for 8 GPU without CPU, Mobo, SATA. Or 2 of them are CPU ports and only used for CPUs? FYI: I got another PSU to power up Mobo,CPU etc..
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted November 13, 2017 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 13, 2017 The 8-pin ports on the PSU can be used for PCIe or EPS12V. But you plan to run it without a 24-pin cable? Do tell.

Yes without. I will only use it for 8 GPUs. I have other PSU for other component. So I can use 8 PCIe cables for my 8 GPUs right? without the CPU (EPS12V)
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted November 13, 2017 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 13, 2017 So if you're not going to have a 24-pin, how do you plan to turn on the PSU?

Administrators Technobeard Posted November 14, 2017 Administrators Share Posted November 14, 2017 Why do you need to run 8 GPUs?
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted November 14, 2017 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 14, 2017 He's mining Cryptocurrency. You don't really want to manually run one PSU off a jumper while the other is controlled by the motherboard. If the motherboard PSU goes down for any reason, the jumpered PSU is going to continue to deliver power to the graphics cards, through the graphics cards, and back into the motherboarad via the PCIe slot. If there's a failure and the PSU trips because of OCP, OPP, etc. or the motherboard wants to shut down because of a short or over temperature, the motherboard is only going to be able to tell one of the PSUs to shut down. It's an incredibly stupid idea. You want to use a dual PSU cable that will shut down the second PSU if the first one shuts off. I used to make these myself out of auto fog light relays.
