I have the one, fixed EPS cable that came with my PSU. And the modular ones, that are PCIe and Molex. I need one more EPS to feed my dual CPU system.

Then I am sorry but you have this Model: CMPSU-850HX Silver
Which clearly shows only one EPS 12 Volt connector.

So now there are two different versions of the HX850's?

I guess you are right, I got the "Silver" one. As I stated in a previous post, the SKU is:
RMA number: 4771113
Corsair Product: CMPSU-850HXEU

Why isn't that SKU showing up on your site under the HX series? Old model with same name?
Very confusing. I ordered it based on the model name, not the SKU number.

Even my User's manual tells me to connect both EPS cables in case my motherboard has two connectors...

So, what do I do? Return it?

I am sorry about that I would speak with your reseller and point that information out to them that it is miss represented to you when you purchased it and see what they say. If they will not or cannot help then I would contact our customer service by phone and see what they can do.

Default HX850 - wrong specs on Corsair web and RMA issue

Thorden,

I contacted a gentleman at Corsair's Customer Service number...he advised me he would ship a cable that is supposed to fit the HX850 modular port. I asked him to read off the part number as I remembered your post regarding the AX cable you received and it not fitting. The number he read off is different from the one you posted. I do not have it at hand at the moment but will post it tomorrow if you'd like to pursue it.

I have NOT received the cable yet but will post if it fits and works as soon as UPS gets it to me.

Hope this helps...otherwise, I like you, will chalk this up to bad manufacturer's information and re-consider my product choices henceforth.

I am sorry but I don't know who you spoke to but there is no cable we can send that will work with that PSU. If you use a cable not made for that model it can damage your system.
I have asked the product manager to look into this but we do not have an update or solution at this time.

Hi RamGuy,

Thanks for the info...the CS agent I spoke with is named Harold and the part number of the cable he said was sent is CB-10HXEP1. I have not received the cable yet so cannot vouch for its usability.

As for your info regarding the HX850 specs, I've searched the web thoroughly and can find no SKU# for the HX850 GOLD Certified PSU the Corsair website shows whose Spec page clearly says it has TWO ATX/EP cables. Every website hit I've found in reviews and specification data sites (Tomshardware, AnandTech, etc...) shows an SKU# of CMPSU-850HX. They do mention it being SILVER Certified only but meeting GOLD Cert specs. There is no mention of the GOLD Certified PSU anywhere.

Every search of the Corsair website by any term other than the SKU brings up the GOLD Certed PSU with the above noted TWO EP cables.

This is really confusing for the consumer and misleading as all get-out.

Hi BArek,

Please keep us posted when you receive the cable.

I agree with you when it comes to the confusion and misleading information about the HX850. Two different units with the same product name, and no information to clearify differences. Seriously, that's far below what I expect from Corsair.

Thorden,
I am sorry but these two PSU are two different part numbers and are clearly marked on the PSU and on each of the links that have been posted. I know its confusing because they both carry the HX850 marketing name but the units part numbers are totally different.

RamGuy & Thorden,

The cable sent to me by the Corsair CS agent arrived today and IT WORKS!

It is marked with Part# CB10HXEP1 and has a label wrapped around the EPS connector which states, "EPS12V Cable for CPU ONLY" The modular connector fit without a fuss and my system is now (thankfully) back online.

Please pass along my appreciation...

NP we have been hounding the PSU Product manager and he has came up with a solution for the few who had the issue but it will not be a permanent fix.

I spoke with customer support again Wednesday evening, and received the correct cable Friday morning. That's quick! :-)
Thanks, problem solved!
