I made my own cover using this special white tape i have, took me three hours and alot of "precise" cutting with scissors, in the end, it does make the lights alot brigther and lively.

It sure does make it look different. I kind of wonder if Corsair could experiment using the K90 base plate on the k95... Then the keyboard cover would not be needed at all.

3 hours is a long time :P i spent 5 hours measuring, remeasuring, and creating the template files. Then another 2 hours prototyping, and another 3 to cut out 7 keyboard covers. So 10 hours total to provide everyone with those template files :D

You spend a heck of a lot of time making profiles for everyone. I can't spend that long in CUE, but i can spend that much time with a drill press, can of spray paint, and a laser cutter :D

I converted the ai file to pdf then resized to 87% and split it into 2 parts, and printed on normal paper

No problem! thank you for posting pictures! :D would you mind sharing the PDF so others don't have to convert the file? Great job! (also, how long did cutting take?)

here is the pdf, in my case the 100% size is too big so i view at 87%, the cutting took me about 1 hour for both pieces of paper, seriously i respect your work alot, really good job!!

Thanks for the PDF! I'll be posting it on the Dropbox for this project sometime tomorrow (getting a house lined up for next school year). Now everyone with a PDF viewer can use the template files - all thanks to you :D

EDIT: the PDF is now posted and I have thanked you in the Readme file

I did this. It looks amazing http://i.imgur.com/wEDTtOM.jpg

Looks awesome! Thanks for posting a picture of the results :D

If nobody else gets to it by the end of my work day tomorrow I can try to see if i can do it. AutoCAD can print stuff to PDF. I need to find out how to specify printing units though. I believe autocad defaults to inches, not millimeters.

i mod my k70 rgb with Mika Plastic .... first it's look Luxury with reflection like Sony Z :p:

But typing sound not attractive because cheap sound (Plastic hit Plastic) not like origin (Plastic hit metal)

Im loving the pictures! Just to clarify, did you use 2mm thick plastic? If you use 1/16" the keycaps do not hit the plastic. Also, the original sound coming from your K70 is from bottoming out the switch. The keycaps on an unmodified K70 never bottom out on the brushed aluminum plate. I think the plastic you used may have been a little too thick, but the way to fix that would be to install transparent O-ring dampeners to decrease the travel distance (and prevent you from bottoming out)

I use 1.7mm thick plastic... well i have to say it's still thick. i will try with different material but in my country it's very difficult to find the material that's can use with Laser cutter. Do you have any Advise for me ?:o:

I probably already commented on this, can't recall, but if I haven't.

This needs to be manufactured by Corsair and offered as an alternative background plate thingy... The color spill in between the keys, espacially the gaps in the F keys is gorgeous.

Great work! Super Jelly! ;)

Any plastic similar to credit card plastic will perform well. For laser cutting, you need to make sure the plastic does NOT have any PVC in it, or it will release toxic gasses. If you are getting a company to do the laser cutting for you, you should ask them what type of plastics they cut. They will have a list. :)

Thanks for appreciating my work! I would be flattered if Corsair (or anybody) wanted to manufacture these. I don't have the money to mass produce these - that's why I made the project open source. Anybody can use these files as they are :)

Can you please explain this more. I have the PDF but when I download it it is very small compared to the sheet of paper

Hey, small update here. I plotted the DWG files to PDF at a 1:1 scale, so these PDFs should have no scaling issues at all. Sorry for not doing this sooner - it did not occur to me that some people could not use the files I provided at first.

QUICK REMINDER: Do NOT scale these PDFs at all! That will mess up the size of the print and it will not fit the board. Do not "Fit to page." Print at the original size, or the print will not fit.

Thank you, meap, for filling in the gap in this mod. If you use this mod, please continue to post pictures! Seeing the mod being used makes me really happy. :)

EDIT: 3-28-2016

I found a solution to peoples' scaling issues. I put a scale on the PDF files this time so you can verify that the printout will fit before cutting the paper. New files have been uploaded.

Sorry if you have answered this before but how did you make the equalizer type effect for the keyboard ?

I've been waiting for something like that for quite some time :):

I did not make it. Elestriel made the audio spectrograph and her forum post is here! It is really easy to install - I believe there are some video tutorials. Great piece of work and functions gloriously! :)
