  1. Thank you for the reply c-attack. I'm not in love with the specific motherboard. I've just always had good luck with asus. So maybe I will send it back and look for a higher grade model. I don't want to really wait for a price drop not knowing how long it would take to drop and it only being 50-100$ more. Are the ROG series of asus boards having this great of trouble? I saw a couple of owners posting in this thread but I do not know if their issues were resolved. I guess I can go research that more myself. I'm just not educated enough to really know what the better board is other than price increase and doing educated guesses. Same with the ram. I just bought it because the board was advertised to do it and the ram said it was rock solid and tested basically. I didn't expect for there to still be problems. Seems like false advertisement. That's why I picked 3200 because like you said the prices from 2133 ram and 3200 were basically a few dollars difference so I figured why not get higher. I don't even know the benefits fps wise in games other than seeing people say its not much difference. So I can't imagine the difference of 2666 to 3200 being noticeable. It does bring up a question to me though. Would running the 3200Mhz at 2666 or 2800 or whatnot be the same performance as if I refund for some sticks of ram that actually are rated for only 2666 or 2800? Or would the sticks rated to do these speeds do better than the high rated ram at these speeds. I don't care about the price difference since its negligible. I'm just curious if there is a performance issue or if 3200 rated running at 2666 for example will perform the same as 2666 rated running at this speed or if they will perform the same. After all the 3200 could eventually be worked out in the future and ran at that speed but the 2666 will always be limited.
  2. Hello everyone. This is my first time posting on this forum. The reason is because just recently I have ordered the "ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard" and "CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Desktop Memory Model CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 ". I have not built the system yet but I come to ask all you smart people advice. Should I not even bother building and do a return of the items? Should I keep the ram and get a different motherboard. Should I keep the motherboard and get different ram. It's been awhile since I built my last system but then as now I used asus mobo and corsair ram. After seeing the moderators basically abandoning this thread and everyone seeming to still have problems after I read through 30 pages and over a years worth of time frame. I just don't know what to do. I know an RMA process would be a lot easier if I just send back either mobo or ram unopened without trying to build the system. I don't mind trying but if I try to build and get the same errors that I see going on here I will be upset, wasting a lot of time, and still have to RMA and deconstruct. Okay I'm starting to ramble but basically just looking for advice because from all I have read there is still no resolution to this problem? I thought I did good due diligence but now that the parts are in the mail and I discover these issues I feel distraught. Thank you for any help or clarifications.
