Possibly because some people want an RGB fan on their rad (SP) and some want an RGB fan on their case (AF) and some people want both.

Do you have them all connected to the inbuilt RGB fan controller? If so, I'm fairly sure that it won't work, because you can't mix the 2 different types of fan on the one controller.

My H110i GT made a noise on Performance, when I first got it, so I switched it to Quiet and over 2 years later, it's still working fine, and I didn't notice any drop in performance.

Agreed, if you set your fans to the CPU temp (unless you can somehow put a delay in) they will speed up and down every time that your cpu temp goes up and down (pulsing), which can be VERY annoying.

I'm fairly sure that their policy is to replace it "like for like", so they are unlikely to send you anything other than an H115i.

The single pin connector should be connected to the cpu fan header, it is purely to tell the motherboard that there is a fan there and therefore to allow the computer to boot.
