RenegadeWolf
Hi I have an AMD X6 1055T 2.8GHZ 6 CORE AM3 with an Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX According to the memory finder the best momory for my board is: Guaranteed-Compatible Memory for your Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX Best Performance CMP8GX3M2A1600C8 Highest Density CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 Most Affordable CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 I am interested in getting the Highest Density CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9. My question is what is the difference between the CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 and CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9G? Is it only the color and will the G one work just as good on my board, or is it for some other board? The gold would look cool on that board... Thanks!
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted March 2, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 2, 2012 My question is what is the difference between the CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 and CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9G? A: Both modules are made for and tested on Intel Sandy Bridge and Intel X79 chipsets. CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9G being made for and tested on Intel X79 quad channel MB's Unless you plan on over clocking I would suggest using DDr1333 memory as that is what your CPU will support. So CMP16GX3M4A1333C9 or CMP16GX3M4A1600C9 would be the best choice for that MB and CPU.
RenegadeWolf
Thanks for the reply! A bit more info: I decided to get a new CPU for the Sabertooth board as well. I am getting the Amd Zambezi / socket AM3+ AM3+ , FX-8150 - 8x cores ( 3.6Ghz , 4.2Ghz turbo core ) Black edition , unlocked clock multiplier ; 8x128k L1 + 8mb - 8x 1mb L2 + 1x shared 8mb L3 , intergrated dual channel DDR3-1866 memory controller ; 32nm , 125w , 4000mhz HT3.0 HT3.0 , with PVT - box cpu ( with fan ) Two questions: What is the best ram for that MB + CPU combo? I can get the CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9G for a really good price. Will it be just as good as your reccomended ram, or am I seriously limiting my performance? Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted March 2, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 2, 2012 Yes they will work or the parts I suggested will also work with that MB and CPU.
