  1. Well, performance boost more in the sense of getting rid of the remaining (less frequent, but still present) hang-up issues. You can check for the latest BIOS, try the IRST drivers again, run the manual updater as admin, etc again. Did all these things again, always ran the updater as admin, and the BIOS is definitely the latest one. Always had the program scan for drives once more after the "successful" FW installation. http://d3j5vwomefv46c.cloudfront.net/photos/large/851247556.png But it always came up with the same FW, 1.3.3... http://d3j5vwomefv46c.cloudfront.net/photos/large/851247599.png Not quite sure if the FieldUpdater v1.3.6 from the Force GS thread works on other drives. You can try that version and see if that helps. The one in 5.05a is v1.10 I tried FieldUpdater v1.3.6, but unfortunately got a fatal error. http://d3j5vwomefv46c.cloudfront.net/photos/large/851247405.png?1399137390 Thank you anyway for your help!
  2. Thank you again. I didn't have time before, but today I moved the furniture to open my pc again, and even brought the SSD to a friend of mine to see if I could install the FW via his pc. No luck, unfortunately, the exact same thing (success message, failed installation) happens on his pc. At least I managed to retrace the steps of my tweaking efforts and sorted out the issue with the hang-ups. Is there any other way to update the SSD FW? It would be rather annoying to send it in because other than that it works fine. (But I'd really like to see how much of a boost it would get thanks to the update.)
  3. Thanks for the quick reply, Toasted. I followed this tutorial and according to the info MSAHCI drivers are running. (Still didn't change the outcome of the update.) The SSD is plugged into SATA port 0, my regular HD into port 1.
  4. Hi, a while ago I realized that my PC's performance had dropped (Win 7, 64bit, full profile here, if it helps). After some fiddling around it turned out that a RAM bank was faulty and one of the modules wasn't recognized. I fixed this by moving the module, and updated a whole lot of things, including the BIOS. Not long after that, the SSD performance dropped quite a bit, and it also began having tiny hang-ups during which nothing would happen - sound was still audible, but video would hang for a few seconds, I could type, but the letters would only appear a bit later etc. So I wanted to update the firmware (which is still 1.3.3). - downloaded the Corsair SSD Toolbox and tried to update - failed - changed setting in BIOS to AHCI - update still failed - read that the Toolbox doesn't support the update from 1.3.x to 5.x and installed the manual updater - The manual updater...claimed success, however, when refreshing it still showed the old firmware I ran the updater again with different Force 3 FW versions from this forum, the last one being 5.05a, and also restarted the PC after each update (because someone else said it changed for them after booting), but nothing. The updater always claims success, but after refreshing/restarting I only see the old firmware displayed. Do you have any idea what I need to do? :sigh!: Thank you very much in advance!
