  1. Don't bother with XMP. Set it manually. Since 3016 I've been fine setting the speed manually to 3000Mhz and it's been solid as a rock. EDIT: I'm using Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15
  2. I've upgraded to BIOS 3016 (despite people saying nooooo!) on the Asus Pro Gaming Z170 and I have 2 x Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 8GB modules. For the first time ever, I've been able to boot with XMP enabled. I'd previously had to set the RAM timings to manual and it still failed to be stable over 2800Mhz. Before updating I could not use XMP at all as it resulted with an Overclock fail. I finally have the RAM running at what it is rated as. I'll do more testing but this has been fine for hours now with multiple cold boots.
  3. Well the good news is with BIOS 1805 if I manually configure my timings and voltage I can now boot my CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 RAM at 3000MHz!!! It's only taken a few months but I think it's finally working. I'll do some gaming and report back...... EDIT: It's looking good. I think they've finally cracked it!
  4. Which memory channels are you putting your RAM into when you have 2 x 8GB? I've got my RAM in B1 and B2 as recommended by the motherboard manual. I'm now starting to experience strange things like getting an overclocked failed message when I'm not even overclocking and everything is at default. BIOS 1206
  5. I can now get my RAM running at 2900Mhz following the 1206 BIOS update from ASUS on the Z170 Pro Graming but I still cannot hit the 3000Mhz that my RAM is rated at. :( Getting there bit by bit....
  6. Appreciate the updates! I've got my CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 running at 2800Mhz on my Asus ProGaming Z170 on BIOS 1204. Just 200Mhz to go :p:
  7. Yep, me too, I can manually set the RAM timings at 2800Mhz with 15-17-17-35 at 1.35 volts (my RAM is the CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 and this is what Corsair suggest are the recommended settings for my RAM) and I can boot just fine. Set it to 3000Mhz and get OC failed. Nearly there!
  8. BIOS 1204 has been released today for the Asus Z170 ProGaming. I'll experiment with it later. EDIT: Still the same problem. Overclocking failed when I enable XMP with my CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 from a cold boot. Not happy.
  9. Appreciate the response. Do you have an ETA at all? 1 week, 2 weeks, longer? Any idea on what the issue is? An approximate date of a possible solution would at least stop a lot of the questions. Cheers
  10. Just wanting to add to the debate. 2 x 8GB Corsair CMX16GX4M2B3000C15 with the Asus Pro Gaming z170 BIOS 1105 XMP Enabled = Failed Overclock on cold boot voltage at 1.52 (RAM tested at 1.35) Default - Everything works lovely (but not why I paid extra for 3000Mhz RAM) I hope Corsair and Asus can work it out quickly..... EDIT: So far, I can boot from cold with it manually configured at 2800Mhz and the DRAM voltage at 1.35 EDIT2: I can cold boot at 2933Mhz with DRAM voltage at 1.35. As soon as I put it to 3000Mhz I get overclock failed....... EDIT3: Random game freezes when running at 2933 - RAM latency's showing 16-18-18-36 instead of 15-17-17-35. But hey it least it boots up when I wanted it to!
