  1. Are you running linux on your c1? Don't you need the iCUE software to control the cooling? Nox
  2. Hi guys, after a couple of years, i'm starting to see some intermittent boot issues on my C1 (7700k/1080) - so i've been leaving it switched on! (not good for the planet i know...) I'll try replacing the PCIe cable first, as it's somewhat cheaper than the alternatives, and i'm aware of the issue the early machines had. Has anyone replaced it themselves? If so, which cable did you use? I looked on the Corsair store, and the 300mm cable has a right angle connector, but the one in there is straight. Any ideas on a suitable replacement? (Well out of warranty and i'm quite competent with computer rebuilds...) Nox
  3. are those any sort of 'standard' connectors or bespoke Corsair items? wondering if a single loop C1 would ever be viable (so gpu usable under linux)
  4. that's really good to hear. i've always been a little paranoid about 'what if' something broke, like a pump.
  5. Swapping over to an air cooled GPU <should> be viable & comparatively easy if your current GPU breaks. Obvious caveats regarding size, heat & power consumption. Do your research first. Custom brackets can also be fabricated at home these days if you have a decent 3D printer. Any upgrade will be limited by skill level and time requirement vs the size of your wallet to buy a new one! I love my C1, it's incredible. Visually the best PC I've ever owned, by far. (Sorry M1!)
  6. nm - was looking for something hiding under overclocking settings!
  7. Most likely the pcie ribbon cable :( 'Easy' is relative. I've removed the motherboard, and put it back in in mine (to add an nvme drive) Was it 'easy'? - well yes. But it was also WAY tougher than any computer i've ever work on before, by an order of magnitudes. I build systems regularly, i have modded them, build custom chassis plates, run sub zero cooling systems etc. It's not a task I would repeat for no reason (unlike just about every other system i've ever owned.) There are a lot of connectors, make sure you photograph them.
  8. This is awesome news! I was considering swapping out the stock mobo for either the rog (top mounted nvme) or one with thunderbolt 3 :) Nox
  9. You may need to read the speedfan manual on how to set up a new controller :P (I've not done this otherwsie i'd try to help...) Alternatively there is SIV but I don't know if that can control one fan from two sensors.
  10. nice one! so basically you are probably going to have to forget about the Corsair software & find something that will allow you to set a custom curve from TWO inputs. I *think* speedfan will allow this (I don't know any other software that even might...) On the plus side, you will of found things like speedfan would not detect the C1's controllers because it would interfere with the Corsair software. It should detect fine on the new motherboard.
  11. Hi there are currently two more recent BIOS updates from MSI for their z270i carbon ac pro, both of which address the following: - Update Intel Micro code for security vulnerabilities The most recent was July this year. Any ideas if/when these will be ported to the C1?
  12. I can't ansnwer this directly but have a theoretical workround - You could create a Windows VM under linux and pass through the require IOMMU groups for the link software to work. It will consume resources but... better than nothing right?
  13. Never say never! I think one of the biggest hurdles is going to be a replacement AIO. The C1 has a radiator I've never seen before - the tubing comes out the 'edge' where normally the inlet/outlets are on the side or end. That said, on top of this you may well have an issue regarding cooling the thing in general - there will be no control software or you will need to configure your own.
