  1. The corsair one is rated at 1.2A. I have finally installed the new one and have made it to actually stop below 40°C. The same bios kept the Corsair one running at 38% all the time. My PC is much quieter now.
  2. Yup, noticed the same thing on my Gainward 970 (normal), then spent a few weeks hunting it down and found the manufacturer and serial number of the stock fan nVidia uses. It fits just fine. I can't tell you if the new fan is quieter as I haven't put it in yet (this is coming in a few weeks), but it should allow to be run at a lower speed at least.

  4. I have a reference 970 and got the N970. Why would you get the N980?
  5. I'd like to know that too. I've been trying to hunt down the titan x reference fan with no luck. Even had a friend disassemble his reference cooler to see if there's any serial numbers, but there's only an internal nVidia number, which doesn't help at all. The only thing I can find that fits is this, but that's the same as on the Gainward GTX 970 and I'd like better. Actually, the details on this one look like the one that's used on the stock nVidia cards.
  6. Hope you get that sorted. I guess I'm lucky the 970 package shipped with the correct standoffs as I had no issue. I've also ordered some coollaboratory liquid ultra thermal paste. Maybe it'll actually benefit from it. I'll report back soon.
  7. What sort of loads are you getting, though? Star Citizen can peg my 970 at 100% consistently and even with a 106% TDP I'm hitting the power limit. Fallout 4, on the other hand, I never see temps rise above 50.
  8. I would like to know this too. I have an SP120 quiet edition on an H60 and get up to 65°C in Star Citizen alpha 2.1. If I keep it at 400, it goes as high as 80.

  10. Awesome, thanks. I already have the fan from my old cooler on my desk waiting to go in. Did you have to remove the cooler from the die or can you remove the top part and the fan while keeping the cooler attached?
  11. I'm trying to find out what my old fan's lowest speed was, but no luck. The only thing I can find by looking for its model number (PLB06625B12HH EP) is that it's 2 ball bearing with a max rpm of 5000. Nothing about lowest, however seeing as the original bios let me drop the speed to 22%, I'd say it's around 1100 rpm and I do remember it being a lot quieter at idle, I'm just not sure whether it's a straight swap. Old HG10's relied on you replacing the fan with the stock blower fan, but with this line, the compatibility was expanded to all reference board cards, not just reference cooler ones, so Corsair started shipping their own fan with the bracket, but they never said if the fan is the same is the same as the reference one. The dimensions stated are roughly the same (70x25 vs 66x25) and it's the same type of fan with same type of mounting, but I've no idea whether the mounting holes are a match without taking it apart first. Dustin?
  12. I'll definitely look into it, although it may be beyond my expertise. What if I replaced the fan from the bracket with the original fan from my graphics card? I think that one has a lower minimum setting. Is it the same size, though? Seems like the same type, reference blower.
  13. I found out it's not the bios that's preventing the fan from spinning down, but the fan itself. It won't spin below 38% of its rated speed (1680 rpm), no matter how low I set it. What do?
  14. Hmm... I'm confused. What does the percentage do if the RPM setting changes the actual speed?
  15. How low can I go with the RPM on this fan?
