Default Flash Voyager Mini 16gb

I have 2 issues.
1. When I check space available it shows I have 14 of 15.1gb used, yet when I actually go into the drive and check the files present, it shows 3.96 gbs used. Why the difference?

2. I do not know if this is related but I am now experiencing Word files that are corrupted. "Word experienced an error when trying to open this file". I can not get into the file at all. Not all files experience this but most of my recent files that I have used now show this error. Thoughts?

I use this drive heavily everyday as I am a teacher and we can not keep anything on our computers.

Please try and move the data off of the drive then format it with the Format utility from the SD-CARD Organization. and see if that will correct the issue. Also how many files do you have on the drive and how large are the files?
