Default Dominator 4.1 version & 5.1

Gud day! I have a 2x1GB corsair dominator ddr2 1066mhz 4.1 version on my gigabyte GA-EP45 UD3P mobo. Im planning to add another 2X1GB corsair dominator ddr2 1066mhz, but the version is 5.1. Is it ok to put the 4.1 & 5.1 version together on my mobo, what are the downside if any? Tia

It may work together, it may not. The only way to know is to install them and test them. Ideally, you should get a 2 x 2GB kit to avoid issues.

Thanks sir specmike. I tried using different brand ddr2 pc800mhz on my Gigabyte GA-EP45 UD3P & it works fine. The dominator 4.1 & 5.1 version has the same specs, like voltage, latency, speed etc. The only difference is the version, i just want to know if the version really matters if i will set it on a 2.1 volts (thats the native voltage of version 4.1 & 5.1)

(Ideally, you should get a 2 x 2GB kit to avoid issues.) What would be the issue? By the way, my mobo supports up to 16GB of RAM. Tia

Mixing different versions typically will work but it cannot be guaranteed. The problems can range from no problems at all, to instability, to the system not booting at all.
