Default XMS3 XMP issue

I honestly have no clue when it comes to ram and timmings etc so I just rely on XMP. This worked fine on my old ram, Corsair XMS3 2x4GB DDR3 Dual Channel.

After many years use one of the sticks became faulty so I recently bought XMS3 2x8GB CMX16GX3M2A1600C11: My motherboard is a MSI P67A GD65 with latest bios.

However when I enable XMP on the new ram, it doesn't set the frequency to 1600MHz as it should.

XMP Enabled

If I enable XMP AND manually set frequency to 1600 I get these results, correct frequency but difreent timmings to the XMP

Any ideas what could be the issue? Many thanks

those timings are faster, if you are not having stability issues just forget about it.
Thinking about combining 2 or more sets of ram?? even the same part# is not suggested, recommended or supported.

System Specs as of 6/17/10

I did have some issues a few days ago but not bsods and I cant say they were ram related.

I tested my old remaining 4GB stick and the XMP worked fine, applying the correct frequency and timmings so it must be something about the 2x8GB set. I've decided to return them and look for replacements.

Is the Vengeance Low Profile 16GB set comparable? I need low profile sticks without the massive fins or they won't fit under my cpu cooler, and XMP onboard.
