Default DET DRAM Error MEssage on Striker Extreme

CAn anyone help this is driving me nuts!

I am trying to get a new build to post with a striker extreme MB but all I and getting on the LCD post screen is CPU INIT or DET DRAM, it wont post at all.

I am using CM2x1024 - 6400 XMS2 pro which is listed as compatible.

Some forums are saying that I need to overide the default 1.8v setting from the MB and run at 2.1.v but how am I supposed to do that it the system won't post?

all this kit is new out of the box and I have nothing lying around to get the system up and running with.

I have tried single stick/ diffferent channels and all possible combinations of them, but I cannot get past the DET DRAM shutdown on my initialisation.

If you are getting the same problem with either module one up, that would suggest some other problem, I would check with the MB maker to see the BIOS version that is on your MB will support that CPU, I am willing to bet and say you might need a newer BIOS version.

Yep what a waste!

Just been onto ASUS tech support the Striker Extreme does NOT currently support the Intel QX6800 2.93 ghz 8MB chip version only the 4 MB one!!

Unbelievable!

If you are going to market your products as quad core ready, its pretty poor that they are not!

Nice one ASUS!!!

Did you call and talk to their support I would think they would have a BIOS update to correct that?

Default I doubt he called ASUS.

I doubt that he called them. Their support line is essentially useless and problems are always someone else's fault (user, power supply, RAM, CPU not seated correctly, etc. - have heard all of these from them).

I've been trying to get Dominator 8888CD4's to run, even at 800 (rather than 1067 or 1111), and the board will either not post, blue screen every [insert random number here) minutes, etc. Pop in some cheapo 667 sticks, all is well. But the Dominators test fine.

And ASUS is notoriously noncommunicative about their BIOS tweaks, what has changed (EXACTLY) between builds, and will probably njot make this board compatible with higher end modules before it's been made by some new mobo that also won't work well with high-end DRAM.

Sigh.

At least Corsair has great service.

The Striker Extreme should be no problem with these modules, what exactly is happening and what is your complete system configuration?
