Making the 800D quieter

Here is a quote from an 800D review on Hexus:

"There's also no anti-vibration shim to sit the power supply on, and component-silencing in general doesn't appear to be high on the Obsidian Series 800D's list of priorities." :sigh!:

Overall, what have people done, or could do, to reduce noise/vibration in this wonderful case? Without going crazy. And still overclocking, of course. :laughing:

Thanks.

Another idea that I will be using it to use Weather Barrier Foam Padding. Its made to go into door stops and under your garage door. One side is sticky and one side isn't, plus since its a rubber/foam it has some give to it. You can pick it up at any hardware store in 1/4" thickness or less.

I will post some pictures once my case comes in later this week.

  • 2 weeks later...

I think if you take the above suggestions, they are all good. I got my case about 2 weeks now and I am intentionally taking my time working with the case until I order all the guts. Its for Win7 64 so I have some time, plus CPU's, Mem, MB's and alike generally get cheaper the longer you wait ;-)

Anyway, I found this material which is real easy to use, and remove if need be and I used it on every logical internal area of the case like the inside of the cable covers, insides of the disk door's, etc.;

Also, these rubber fan mounts are great, and they eliminate the need for an extra fan silencer. I used them to put 3x 120MM silent fants on top;
