pdajunkee
Hey everyone, I've been searching for info but haven't found it yet. I hope you can help me out. I selected this forum because my computer is not in the Corsair memory compatibility database. First question is this memory even compatible with my computer? Here's the info I found on this site for my memory: Corsair Memory: CMX4GX3M2A1600C7 Memory Type : DDR3-1600 (XMS3-12800C7*XMP) Size: 4GB Kit (2 x 2GB) Format: 240-pin DIMM Latency: 7-8-7-20-2T The Shuttle Compatibility site states the following Corsair memory is compatible but the store didn't stock any of these and said the above memory would work. CORSAIR CM3X2048-1600C7DHXIN PC3 1600 2GB CORSAIR TW3X4G1333C9DHX CORSAIR TWIN3X4096-1600C7DHX CORSAIR TWIN3X4096-1600C7DHXIN Second question is, if it is, how should I configure the BIOS to work with this memory? My default BIOS settings are giving me occasional BSOD errors upon install of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008R2. Not attempting to overclock, I just want this thing stable. I'm attempting to manually set the memory timing but I only have a basic understanding of what some of these settings mean. If anyone could just let me know what the following values (requested by BIOS) should be, that would be fantastic! I've added the values that I think I know. Spread Spectrum: Enabled BCLK: 133 DRAM Frequency: ??? Configure DRAM Timing by SPD: Disabled DRAM tCL (clock cycles of CAS latency): 7 DRAM tRAS (precharge time): 20 DRAM tRP (RAS charge before DRAM refresh): 7 DRAM tRCD (timing delay between CAS and RAS): 8 DRAM tWR (write recovery time): ??? DRAM tRFC (refresh cycle time): ??? DRAM tWTR (write to read delay): ??? DRAM tRRD (row active delay): ??? DRAM tRTP (read to precharge delay): ??? DRAM tFAW (four active window delay): ??? CPU Voltage Offset: ??? CPP VTT Offset: ??? DIMM Voltage Offset (1.5V): PCH 1.05V Offset: ??? PCH 1.8V Offset: ??? Graphic Core Voltage Offset: ??? Here are the specs for this box: Shuttle XPC Case and Motherboard SH55J2 (integrated video and network) 2 x 1.5TB 5400RPM WD Caviar Green SATA2 (w/Advanced Format) 2 x 2GB Corsair DDR3 1600 XR-CMX4GX3M2A1600C7 Intel i5 CPU (650) 3.2Ghz Dual Core with integrated video I look forward to any help you can provide. This is driving me crazy!
pdajunkee
OK, some success getting it to work. But not sure if it is optimized. Re-seated both memory modules. Re-flashed BIOS and loaded default settings. Set memory to 9-9-9-24 at 1333Mhz. Kept all the voltage settings to auto. Memtestx86+ ran twice without issues. Windows Server 2008R2 Memory test ran twice without issues. CPU-Z ran once without issues. SiSoft Sandra ran once without issues.
pdajunkee
OK, everything working beautifully after 16 hours. Shut down the server, moved it into another area, started it up... and now getting memory errors again. *aaaggghhh* Ideas for troubleshooting? 1. Loose connections? 2. Bad power at new location? pdajunkee
Just in case anyone else stumbles across this, my last entry (hopefully). Read somewhere that a dirty connection could cause problems like this. Solution stated taking memory out and gently wiping down the contacts with a clean eraser. Gave it a shot and now the computer is working again, haven't been able to get it to crash. Ran Memtest86+ for 12 hours. Ran Windows memory test for 4 hours. Ran SiSoft for 4 hours. So far so good!
