Buzzing Noise from power supplies - Possible solution

the high pitched noise has been fixed. and it WAS NOT the corsair power supply.

I, one by one, unplugged a connector from the power supply to each component: cpu, each fan, hard drive, etc.

and then I would reboot and see if the problem persisted. Finally I found the cause to be my Asus video card. If you go here, and read the first review, you'll see this person had the same problem.

went to best buy, and bought a BFG tech card equivalent of my Asus one and NO NOISE!! I can finally rest now! unbelievable!!!!

I think my case is a little different, it only whine when running low 3D things like ATItools, scrolling IE BUT NO WHINE when idle or running 2D/3D games, benchmark test....
You are so lucky can fix the problem but I can't still
I use BFG card, tried a 250 and a 260, both got the same noise.
I'm sure is not the Corsair PSU, coz my HX620 works great on my old system and I did change PSU to other brand still got the noise.

Can you hear the noise when you are running the ATItools 3D square box now? If no, I think you really solved the problem.

what is the ati tools 3d square box? how do i run it?

all i know is before the card was making the noise from the time I started the computer until I turned it off. Now it doesn't even when I play games.

My whine at just in the manual (NOT STARTING THE TEST YET), when I start the test, whine gone.

But it is really annoying coz it also whine when I scroll or browsing internet.

I have a strange problem. Both my Power supply and Graphics Card are making noises When scrolling, in crysis, atitool 3d box and moving around windows. I tested 2 Corsair TX 650W PSU's. Also I tested 2 GPu on 8800GT and my current 4850. The 4850 reduced the noises from the gpu but the power supply still makes noises. I tried disabling the bios setting but no avail. Any clue what to do?

That's exactly what I got and tried.
Looks like it happen on ASUS and Gigabyte X58 MB. I think MSI, too.
Do you have a chance to try a EVG MB?

Coz I've built one before using EVGA X58, no problem, that's why I'm wondering...

I dont know, am in uk and evga motherboards are very over priced. I use to have a xfx 680i lt. My graphics card use to makes the noises but I only recently reliased it happening during scrolling and moving around windows. I only just found out today that the psu is also making these noises. I was pretty unaware before because my case use to be far away from me. But know its close so I hear it clearly. It is the most noisy when in ati tool. But scrolling and browsing should not cause noises. I wonder if its the psu on its own or is it motherboard related. What does corsair say about this?

OK looked at what ram guy said. I ran in safe mode and the buzzing sound was reduced alot. I could almost not hear it. But It was there very very low. Even with my ear right next to eat It was difficult to hear it.

Strange thing is both my gpu and psu are making these noises and during ati tool 3d box thing it is very loud even when scrolling or moving around windows I can hear it. Is there any fix to the problem. It could be a driver related issue. I never took any attention with my xfx board. But I can tell you that the graphics card always made these buzzing noises regardless of motherboard. It is common amongst the graphics card to make these noises however the power supply should not make these noises.

I am having the same problem as the original poster. I disabled the Intel power control features in the BIOS. Although, occasionally, my psu will make a pretty loud humming noise. It worries me when it does this because it sounds like something is wrong. I do not know what to do about it now. It does possibly seem to have gotten better since the Intel power save feature were disabled. Although I would like to fix the problem permanently.

Is it you mean whine, high pitch noise?
Me too, if disable those power thing, noise a little better but not much.

What I can tell is change mouse, KB, PSU, videocard, Asus, MSI Gigabyte MB and using UPS, NO USE.

I totally have no idea what and how to fix this problem ,too.

I have another X58 system, no problem. So my guest is just your luck or EVGA MB.

No, it is a humming noise that is not high pitched. It only happens rarely. So, I will not worry about it.

Brand new HX850;
Plugged into a power-strip, with PSU switch off = slight hum/buzz
PSU switch on = audible hum/buzz for abit, goes away.... comes back.... goes away (rinse repeat).

Turn the thing on, hum/buzz for a while then goes away.... comes back.... goes away (rinse repeat).

Every now and then it becomes very audible.

I bought a Corsair to be included in a build for my dad, it was so trouble-free I was determined to get a Corsair for my next round of upgrades.

I'm on and off thinking about RMA. But the company I've bought it from doesn't do collections, so its going to cost me around £20-30 to send it for next day delivery, maybe more, but it was just over £20 for sending a GPU in the post :/ sucks.

I'm holding off at the moment, in the hope that it just needs to be broken in.

I don't think the fixes above are relevant because im AMD.
I am going to try and record some audio if it continues as-is or gets worse.

Any AMD mobo fixes to trial with?

I should hopefully have my 4890 back, didn't notice this when it was in but i guess i was more concerned with a possible faulty fan than buzzing from the PSU.
Im very sure its not my 2900xt thats doing it because it does this when the PC is off and the PSU is switched off, but plugged in at the wall.

I've grown tired of lengthy RMA processes, its a joke.

Any help or advice, greatly appreciated.

edit: Oh and when there is no buzzing, subtle resonating sparking sound. I can't really describe it, but thats the best I can do with words at the moment.

RMA won't fix it. I have the same issue as you with my HX850 and I RMA'd it. The new one makes the same noise. I am currently investigating causes.
