Question about the RMX650 and PWM Fans

Okay, this is kind of a general question.

Planning to upgrade soon to this:

* i56600k

* Z170 Mobo

* RMX650W

* AMD RX480

* Arctic Freezer 12

* 16 GB XMP 3GHZ RAM

* Corsair 100R Case

I also plan on including 4 Case Fans (Arctic F12) with PWM. I have only 2 PWM Headers. So I am looking at Molex Cables to power those case fans. If I buy a 4x Molex Adapter for those, can the RMX650 regulate those properly?

How does that work at all if they are not connected to the PWM Header?

What am I missing here.

  1. No, the fans will run at full speed all the time.
  2. It does not.
  3. I would get 2 x 4-Pin PWM To Dual PWM Fan Power Y-Splitter (http://www.ebay.com/itm/391513550146) or similar.
  4. The combined current for both fans MUST be < 1 amp.

Thanks for your answer. That is what I feared. The mainboard only has 2x 3 pins, according to the downloadable manual (I didn't buy it yet). Only the CPU Fan is 4 pin. But that should not matter. The question is, how do I know how many AMPS I have there? I am not an electrician or engineer and have no measuring equipment.

How should I proceed in your opinion? Just try it out?

What is normally the safe way to do this?

  1. I am wondering, Is this is a good choice?
  2. OK
  3. It does, I feel you need a motherboard with 4-pin CHA fans
  4. Almost all MB fan headers can supply 1 AMP.
  5. Post a link to the manual PDF file as me know exactly "Z170 Mobo" it is. From what you have posted it's impossible to know.
  6. Tell us what your budget is for the motherboard so we can see if there is a better choice.
