zen1
I see a lot of post concerning the Corsair Link lighting node and RGB LED strip availability. I decided to make my own and share how I did it. After reading over the forum rules I don't see this post as being an issue, especially since Corsair has failed to make the product available in a timely fashion. I have a 800D case with 2 lighting nodes and wanted a lot of lights, so I did some research and made my own at a fraction of the cost of buying more nodes. This is also beneficial as 1/3 of the strips I received from corsair were dead on arrival(They are delicate, so avoid bending, A corsair phone rep said they would send a replacement, but none ever arrived). What you will need: -LED light strip (search the internet for "5050 RGB LED") I bought a 5 meter strip for $15. This is enough to make the equivalent of 100 Corsair strips (300 lights). -4-Pin/I2C Connectors. This is the connector corsair chose for the node interface. -Any solderless RGB LED connectors. It's not required, but makes things easy. Basically you just cut the strip to your desired length, cutting only at the cut points/contacts on the strip. All the strips are connected so it's easy to make long strips(max length 99 lights). Place one end of the strip into the solderless connector, then wire that to a 4-Pin/I2C Connector. One thing you must account for is correct wiring. The LED strips corsair uses are wired in one order (12v,BRG) while traditional LED strips are ordered (12v,GRB). Just make sure to cross BLUE and GREEN. That's it. My 5 meter strip also came with adhesive so it was easy to install. I will post pics once I resize them. zen1
So I spent the night cleaning up the cables I made and soldering them properly. I just wanted to post the finished pictures. In the attached pictures you can see that my corsair link node is powering almost an entire spool (about 250 lights).
wytnyt
So I spent the night cleaning up the cables I made and soldering them properly. I just wanted to post the finished pictures and ask if anybody would be interested in acquiring my finished product if I was to make them available. zen1
you cant [per corsair rules] advertise your stuff for sale, you agreed to this when registering... I have reworded the thread as to not raise any red flags. If you read my original comment I was very careful to avoid breaking rule #14. There is nothing in my post about sales and I made no mention of money or trade(no profit). Please reread and fact check before posting intentionally negative criticism. I hate having to defend myself as I've done nothing wrong, but some people just like to harass...

TheIronShadow
I have a question How do you connect the 4 pin of the strip to the lighting node pro because that has a 3 pin. The commander pro has 4 pins I thought so do you connect it to that or not. Can you please explain that to me. Thanks in advance
DevBiker
You have the old strips and they don't work with the Lighting Node Pro. It's better to open a new thread than the resurrect a 5 year old thread, however.
