Recommended Posts

So if anybody was on Twitch tonight, they would've seen Nvidia was doing a show. If not, here are the specifics:

GeForce GTX 1080 - $599 (Standard), $699 Founders Edition (Overclockable)

1607 Base Clock, 1733 Boost Clock

2560 Cuda Cores

9 Teraflops of calculations

8GB GDDRX5

2x performance and 3x energy-efficient as TITAN X, using Pascal architecture

Simultaneous Multi-Projection technology in VR offers 30% framerate boost

A slightly cheaper GTX 1070 will also be available everywhere on June 10th.

I don't think so. The only reason you would have a separate edition is if there was a component on it that let you overclock the GPU.

The same principle is applied to the GTX 1070 - that has a stardard card ($379) and a Founders Edition ($449) at 8GB, but a smaller clock speed.

The reason for the Founders Edition of the 1070 and 1080 are because these have a special cooler attached to them, which draws heat away from the GPU to help with overclocking.
