Cool man, if you do find out what the cause is, please let me know :)

I see in your specs you are running two video cards. Can you try running your setup without the 4890 in the PC and see if the buzzing is present?

I'm sorry if that has confused you, Im only running one.

My 4890 has been RMA'd so im with my old 2900xt for now.

When I had my 4890 in I didn't notice buzzing or anything, but I was too busy with a faulty fan on the graphics card. So until I get it back. Should've been today but they haven't even shipped it nor has the order number ever been created on my account :/ So next week it will probably be which sucks!

Does it buzz with just the 2900XT in it?

It was buzzing with it in but today; everything is running as it should; weirdly

edit: I've changed the cable, changed the surge-protector, changed the socket with and without surge-protector.
I even took it to a neighbours!

Noise is back, does this PSU not like the cool climate of scotland or something?
Back in my PC all day yesterday because it was behaving, turned it off.

I find out after turning on this morning its making noises again, something to do with cold temperatures?

Mine does the same. When it is cooler out, it doesn't buzz. Warmer temps make it buzz more.

Hi,

I also noticed a couple of sounds with my Corsair 850W TX as I posted on a different thread:
"Noise after computer shuts down"

From my post from link above:
"I noticed the last couple of days however, a rattling/whining/buzzing noise from the PSU.... kind of high pitch and pseudo-random, which reminds me of fast Morse code or sounds you'd expect form a hard drive moving mechanical parts during swapping around. It clearly is from the psu and it is starting to get on my nerve a little. I also started using sleep mode regularly the last couple of days I have been working on a project. I can hear the sound now and the temperature is about 81F (27C) or less. And, according to my mobo the case temperature is about 40C and CPU 42C and Graphic Card 48C, usual for my standard use.

Is the PSU transformer winding wires loose already?!! or the fan showing signs of defect/fault?! "

There is also a fan humming sound when my PC is shut down... Is this normal that after power off the fan does not stop. It would make sense if it did until PSU is totally cooled down but not all night when the system is off?!

Any thoughts? Is this buzzing sounds when system is power normal?

Thanks for your suggestions and replies.
Donat

Haha! Had a good laugh at myself

Earlier today I swapped a system from a Chieftech/500w case to a CM Scout with a new Corsair 750 HX. Change over went well, but when I booted up I heard this whine. Left it running while I watched some football and when I came back it was still whining away.

I remembered seeing something about power supplies buzzing over on the [H] forums...so I come here and read the 1st post, well I was pretty sure I'd already disabled C1E and EIST but I rebooted into BIOS anyway. Well I was right and those were already disabled, HOWEVER I noticed 2 fan fail were still enabled. I disabled those and rebooted and noise is gone.

OK, the 2 fan fails were CPU Fan(which I enabled again) and PSU Fan...yes, my 500w AeroCool ZeroDBA psu had a fan power plug, and I had it plugged into the PSU fan header on the Gigabyte EP35-DS3R.....end of story, jokes on me

Thanks to this thread for getting me into checking the BIOS

Thanks Tbwotw

I never had a problem with PSU to start with but I had to load Fail-Safe defaults in BIOS due to stability issues and after that the noise started.
I was going mad as I couldn't figure out what was wrong.
C1E support [Disabled] and no more annoying noise.

Just clicking around in itunes, Steam or surfing the web I was getting the electrical noise from PSU.

But no more. :-)

Thanks again.

My corsair TX850 has the same buzzing problem especially when the PC is off. It appears to be some sort of a buzz when plug to an outlet and turn the PSU on, but the sound disappears (I think or maybe it is just shadowed by the other sounds) when the PC is turned on. So any solution to this buzzing PSU problem? It seems that many other PSU also experiences this problem, so i hope it is nothing to worry about? Thanks

Same here, experienced the buzzing sound with my HX850 when I plugged it directly into the socket or to that with surge protector.. But testing it with my old psu, I did also hear the same buzzing sound.. maybe just maybe this is normal? cause I have used my old psu for about 3 years and haven't failed me since then.. just upgraded my psu to HX850 for more allowance and future readiness.. :)
