I installed my replacement P3 256 in a 2010 mac pro using an ATTO H-608 sata 3 pcie card. The drive now works at least. The bench numbers (bench apps very scarce for mac) were somewhat better than a sandforce 1200 sata 2 drive connected directly to a native mac pro slot, but nothing earth shattering and in some cases worse. Pretty unimpressed so far, especially for the premium over the force/etc sandforce 1200 models. Sata 2 performance is lower than the sandforce 1200 drives. Next best hope is the sandforce 2000 based drives out mid year I suppose. maybe some new firmware can eeek out a bit more write speed from this P3.

EaglePC: That's a different AS version that what paesan ran. May want to try the same version, just so it's closer to apples vs apples.

OK, the replacement P3-256 just failed (unrecoverable) after 2 days. There is something very wrong with these drives. I have other SSD drives and regular drives and these 2 Corsair P3-256's are the only ones that have failed in any way. I only hope I can get a refund.

Unbelievably overpriced too, $749.99 is utterly ridiculous for a 256GB drive.

Newegg is setting those prices. I believe they have a variable pricing model. If a particular product is selling fast and their inventory is low, they increase the price. They were originally at $600 and with demand and low volume they have slowly increased the price.

It's like the time I bought bulk RAM from them. I had bought about 24 packs of DDR2 RAM a few years back for 150 a pack. The next day, the price had doubled to 300 a pack because what was in stock and overabundant one day was in low volume the next day.

This might be a good business model but bad customer relations IMO where customers realize they're not always getting rock bottom prices.

I'll have 2 of the CSSD-P364GB2-BRKT drives arriving tomorrow. I should be able to post some raid 0 results this weekend will be running them via sata III on an asrock p67 extreme 6. hope they don't disappoint, will be both my first raid and SSD experience!

I'm probably going to buy a performance 3 SSD & just wanted to know if the bracket is black. I have a window on my case and have already powder coated the interior black and don't want any silver/aluminium components in there.

Cheers :)

I can tell you tomorrow afternoon when it arrives if no one else has posted by then. Of course you could easily paint it if need be or buy different brackets.

The bracket I received with my 128gb is black with the Corsair logo stenciled in grey. The drive itself is silver.

Yes I noticed that the Atto results are right on spec. So far I am extremely happy with this drive. I can't say the same for my P67 motherboard that is messed up.

Thanks for that.

I don't mind if the drive itself is silver, just wanted the bracket to be black.

Thanks!

EDIT: OOps! I didn't realise the price rapage, I think I'll go with the Force series... :)

I picked up 2 of the 64GB P3's and booted them for the first time last night. raid 0. just did a quick ATTO bench and it pulled close to 800, as expected. I'll do some more benchmarking later tonight. i can confirm the bracket is black. cant decide on if i'll keep these or pick up the c400's coming out any day...

Here are the ATTO and AS benchmarks from the P3-64's in a Raid 0 128kb stripe, latest intel rst drivers, asrock p67 extreme6 with the latest 1.40 firmware, running on the p67 sata 3 controller (should i try the marvel controller? i heard its worse) write caching enabled and turned off windows write-cache buffer flushing. This is my first SSD setup and I'm blown away by the speed, but I'm guessing the 4K speeds are slow? Whats the verdict, should i keep these or go a different route?
